Blaming DeChellis at this point is a pretty lame argument as well. It's been six years. If you take a job as a coach thinking you can't make improvements after six years, you probably shouldn't take the job. I guarantee Chambers gave himself a shorter timeline to be successful than what he's on right now, so he's probably disappointed in his results as well, so why shouldn't fans be disappointed? They're freshmen. They're freshmen? What freshmen team ever carried Penn State to a NCAA Tournament? Which one?
The last 2 NCAA Tournament teams I remember were senior dominated and the team finished in dead last place the following year.
Dunn and Ed never established Penn State anywhere in recruiting and by the time their teams had success it was the last second and too late to capitalize off the success in recruiting.
If these guys can get over the hump in the next couple years with the foundation that has been laid in recruiting, the ability to sustain success is there.
You want to blow this up when these guys are freshmen to start ALL OVER again with some coach who is currently at Stony Brook? Why would anyone ever do that?
BTW: The NIT gives bids to 1 bid leagues whose regular season champ doesn't win the conference tournament. It's way harder to make the NIT now than it was during the Dunn and Ed era's. Those teams steal bids.
Pat Chambers just played a non conference schedule that we would rarely if ever play in the past. If Pat had loaded up on all garbage to inflate his record before conference play we could easily have 15 or 16 wins right now.
I'm sorry, I have yet to hear one compelling argument to blow up the foundation Chambers is trying to build that also came with a realistic solution. How long he's already been here when Dechellis left the cupboard almost completely bare is literally the worse argument.
You guys offer no solutions. It takes no ability to point to the record and say make a change.
