Penn St vs Ohio St Predictions

What’s your prediction for this Saturday’s game?

The Buckeyes only had 64 yards rushing vs Nebraska, whereas both Illinois and Indiana had over 200 vs the Huskers. Strange indeed. Did that LT injury affect them that much. Also Howard 13/16 wasn't much of a threat.

You realize that Clubber made that prediction and then got the sh*t kicked out of him, right?

Here is Urban's recommendations to tOSU based on last week's performance. Day is a disciple of his so I am sure this will be seriously considered.

If they run Howard 15-20 times by design and avoid having him in the pocket because they can't protect I like our odds
Running the QB will help with a less than stout OLine, Franklin did it for years fairly successfully.

I've called for PSU to make the playoffs from day 1, just not a win over OSU. That team has a much bigger payroll and history isn't on our side.

I understand that OSU has some OL issues and they looked weak vs Nebraska so I give PSU a 30% chance to win.

The betting line suggests OSU will win something like 24-21.

OSU is only giving up 12 pts per game so far this year and the only time we've scored more than 34 pts is vs Kent State.

I'm concerned about being without Allar & Sutton but I do think we have chance at home. IMO a PSU win would look more like 24-20.
Maybe it should but if they deem Drew able to go he'll play. There's no way they're going to say he's good but the RT is out so we're sitting him.
Yeah I agree, they are not doing that. If Drew can go then it doesn't matter if I'm the LT, LOL.

They are not running Howard 15-20 times. His running is a secondary weapon. They want to test our secondary with their 2 top 10 pick NFL WRs and run their two stud RBs. We have to take advantage of their weakened O-Line to not give Howard time to find Egbuka and Smith running open. Because they will be open. Need Durant, Ford to clog running lanes.

IF we had a healthy Allar, Singleton, Onkoh, Sutton and Winston, I'd think Lions would have a decent chance of beating OSU mainly because it's a home game. But they're not healthy and it's a noon game, so I agree with the Bucks -4.5.

Exactly. PSU DL creating problems up the middle results in problems for OSU offense. I hope the PSU defensive staff doesn't over-blitze; especially if OSU is in 3rd & long. That will be a recipe for OSU explosive plays. Show them different looks and move Carter around.

Agreed--that was Meyer's recommendation which I don't believe he believes lol

I believe he ran quite a bit for Kansas State.
27.1 yards per game * 34 games at KState. 13 per game at OSU.

I wouldn't call that "prolific". For reference, Drew is at 12.9 for his career, and there were too many instances in 2022 where he only came into the game (10) to hand off. If you throw that year out he is at 16.75 per game.

Donkoh hasn’t been able to get through games even if he starts. Just another reason to start Beau.
You don't see where your argument collapses onto itself? So Drew can only play if the guy who "can't make it through games" can definitely make it through this upcoming game? If there actually is a chronic injury issue, then it's next man up on the line, and the vest available QB (or RB or whatever) should play.

I think you guys get us this year, this Ohio State team is just missing the "it" factor. The LT is a big problem, but expect them to bump our LG to LT and the backup LG played the first few games of the season. Out biggest weakness on defense is out two ends are underachieving for sure and our LBs are average at best, hence why you see a rotation there. Plus, the lack of pressure has exposed our CBs a bit. Our defensive strength is by far our DTs

Howard just isn't really a running QB
He had 100 yards against OK State last year but that was largely due to a 70 yard run
He's a willing runner but if they're designing 15-20 runs for him they have no chance

OSU will not run Howard 15-20 times, 5 maybe.

No prediction, but a caution for us, should things go well...https://youtu.be/OQhOcDFbflQ?si=EDiEsQduaXedTKDr

When Psu actually beats OSU that’s when I will believe it can’t pick his 24 - 10 bucks

If we were at full strength I would agree that we would have a legit shot, but we have lost three really good players and Allar is hobbled.

OSU has elite WRs. PSU brings the heat and leaves their DBs in man coverage.

A couple of big plays have been the difference in a lot of these games. I expect OSU to start out with a lot of quick release passes to counter PSU pressure. They'll also try to establish the run in spite of OL injuries. PSU will get some stops but sooner or later they'll get burned with Reed blitzing and Harris/Kimber in press man.

OSU 27, PSU 24
