Penn St vs Ohio St Predictions

What’s your prediction for this Saturday’s game?

He does need to run as much for OSU with three top flight WRs.
I'm not worried about Howard running so much as I am him simply rolling out and moving the pocket to buy time for his receivers. And if they're covered, then he can tuck it and run.

I've called for PSU to make the playoffs from day 1, just not a win over OSU. That team has a much bigger payroll and history isn't on our side.

I understand that OSU has some OL issues and they looked weak vs Nebraska so I give PSU a 30% chance to win.

The betting line suggests OSU will win something like 24-21.

OSU is only giving up 12 pts per game so far this year and the only time we've scored more than 34 pts is vs Kent State.

I'm concerned about being without Allar & Sutton but I do think we have chance at home. IMO a PSU win would look more like 24-20.
Last year the issue was we couldn't get chunk plays. Now this year it's we don't score enough even though we have plenty of chunk plays. It's been a tale of two halves, with most scoring in the second half. I think the offense will actually put a complete game together instead of just a good second half, and that will be the difference. I hope so, at least.

I hope PSU wins and shuts people up. That said I would not bet on it. PSU struggles against most teams. PSU struggled vs Bowling Green.

PSU has more depth at DT this year but the DEs are a step back. LBs are a step back. We have key injuries. OSU has more talent. How do you pick PSU?

OSU 20, PSU 10
Bucknuts have a speed edge on both sides of the ball. And I fear a bad turnover could bite PSU in the butt. Hope I’m wrong, but not optimistic about this game.

How are the dbs a step back? Not one of those dbs last year made an NFL roster. 3 of the 4 this year will play on Sunday.

Jesus Christ you're negative. Don't bother watching tomorrow.

But you forget, O$U doesn't get holding calls even when holding.
Sadly, we have multiple posters on the board who want penalties called on PSU’s opponent in pregame warmups. It’s a loser’s mentality. They whine way, way more here than on any other board I visit.
It’s fact officials do not reach the level of working B1G games (or games in any other conference) without a resume of excellent work. Officiating crews do not enter games with an agenda of favoring one team over the other. That would be a secret impossible to keep and would instantly end a career.
The crap a few posters type on this board is shameful and embarrassing to the majority of PSU’s fan base. If someone wants to claim a conspiracy, he/she better be able to prove it. Otherwise, the majority here would prefer them to keep their whining to themselves.

Some of the people on this board are amazing. Why enjoy a game when you can bitc* about the officiating?

Because games stopped being enjoyable around 1993 when this sh$thole conference made sure to protect their 2 anointed ones.

Relax, it is only a game. PA and OH have far more in common than not. Ohio State- Michigan is another matter.
I thought it was rather obvious that I was joking around. Or was I? It all depends which part of PA you're talking about. Are you talking about the eastern 3rd, where the great majority of the PA population lives, and where comparative civilization resides? Are you talking about the vast wasteland that is central PA/Pennsyltucky, where a great oasis known as Happy Valley resides? Or are you talking about the illiterate western 3rd ... which is also known as Eastern Ohio (or NotToBePA), because the eastern 3rd of PA wants absolutely nothing to do with it and no one wants to travel there voluntarily?

I realize that you were joking. Eastern Ohio and western PA could be the same state.

So in other words, the game tomorrow is pointless. What if PSU wins? Does that shoot your theory?

I predict the endzones will be cool

I see that picture and think only “Home”.

Headwinds:
  • Noon game with a history of not playing our best in the early game.
  • Weak first half in nearly every game this year, but need a full game against an elite team.
  • Defense that is thin in places. Tom Allen, at least to me, has not yet distinguished himself.
  • Hobbled quarterback.
  • Pressure. HC has monkey on his back.
Tailwinds:
  • Home game.
  • PSU with great tailbacks and a very creative offensive coordinator.
  • PSU with best tight end in nation.
  • OSU must prepare for two very different types of quarterbacks.
I have crow thawing on the counter and would love to have it for dinner ...... Headwinds > Tailwinds

We will over-pursue and people will get caught out of position on defense. OSU beats PSU as the defense has trouble tackling and is unable to stop OSU's superior receivers. We make it a game in the second half, as usual this year, but this time we come up short, AGAIN. Defense doesn't have the depth, especially at linebacker, to finish it off.

How much you wanna bet OSU gets one or more game changing calls today?
C'mon man. I travel all of the boards and it's always the same with a few fans - all fan bases - it's the refs that beat us, not the other team. Yes, and OSU has them too. It just comes across as Whining after awhile

Its worse than whining...its honestly absurd. Fans tend to believe calls against their favorite team because that's what the fixate on. Ohio State and Michigan fans will tell you that the refs gate them too.
It's honestly insane to think the Big Ten doesn't want Penn State to contend for titles

30+ years of evidence. OSU this year alone got help at Oregon on a bogus catch and at Nebraska. Just watch today and see. Always a new way, replay machine doesn't work, then the clock, then a spot, then a catch that isn't a catch, then a PI call, on and on it goes.

You mean the western third that was the steel capital of the world and built the country?

Surely, you forget the cesspool that is Philly or Allen or WB or Beth?

I went to Eleven Warriors (OSU site) and their fans were really screaming - about the refs - after the Oregon loss - Bullsh!t

My point is that fans only want to focus on the perceived plays that go against their team - it goes both ways in many games. They want some kind of excuse for the loss. It's only 30+ years of evidence in your mind. I have no side in the PSU-OSU rivalry but the "they're out to get us" BS is comical and old and I see it from every fan base. Iowa might be the worst at it

FYI - I don't care who wins this game but might be pulling for PSU - a little - today. Then I can go to the OSU sites and read about the crooked refs

Unfortunately, I’m feeling the same. The lack of discipline, (dumb penalties, over pursuing and losing containment etc), poor tackling, and slow starts are big problems.

It seems each year people are talking about these issues and they never get fixed. PSU is able to overcome them and win over lesser competition to start each year. Then PSU hits Ohio St/ Michigan and these problems just kill them. OSU is good enough, you don’t need to help them.

Hope I’m wrong, but it’s been too many years of been there, done that.

When we beat them Saturday, are they OUT of the playoffs or do we have to beat the buck nuts again?
They still have a decent shot at the Playoffs but keep in mind, they have to play Indiana. I see OSU thumping Michigan this year
