BB Recruiting Penn State Basketball lands VCU transfer guard Adrian "Ace" Baldwin

That's optimistic but one can hope.
Yes, optimistic but I think that it shows to those guys that top flight players want to play for him. To me, Clary and Mahaffey fit his system very well. I would think booth fits in that category as well. Not sure if Lilley will be asked to stay or not but it probably depends on how many guys he picks up from the portal.

Lilley will be asked to stay. Rhodes probably won't get to 13 players.

I generally agree, but I also think that Lilley will understand that he will never be in the rotation, and may opt to leave now.
I see potentially three VCU kids to transfer in, clary and possibly mahaffey to stay, then they will need seven other transfers.

He should honor Lilley's scholarship and work with him.

I hadn’t realized that Baldwin had two more years left…though another good season and he could be off to test the NBA waters.

7 transfers is very easy to handle in this era.

Very true, I saw earlier that kern had basically committed to follow coach as well. So picking up a couple more is no issue. Plus, it wouldn’t surprise me if Coach leaves a scholarship on the table for next year.

Couldn't agree more. They may not be great next year but its going to be fun watching him build this team for the next couple years

He might leave a scholarship unused for 2023-2024, but if 3 or 4 of his incoming transfers are players with just 1 year remaining he'll have plenty of scholarships for 2024 freshmen. Some transfers don't work out. A player may decide to not use his last year. Rhoades should have plenty of scholarships for a good 2024 class.....

Deloach is the player we need.

Better hope he doesn't do too well, or this coach will be off for greener pastures! This could become a yearly experience.

I'm not worried about that. I'm not opposed to being a program coaches want to come to knowing it's a gateway for an even better job because, eventually, we become a school the right coach stays at. Pretty much no school in any sport is a destination school any more. Jimbo Fisher, Brian Kelly and Lincoln Riley proved that.

These quotes from Rhoades indicate that Baldwin is his key to fielding the team he wants at PSU.

"His competitive spirit, his competitive fire. He doesn't like to lose," Rhoades said. "He's emotional in a good way, and he pulls guys along. I think the one thing that Ace does better than everyone that we know is he gives out confidence to his teammates, competitive confidence to his teammates.

"As much as a coach you want to pump your players up, when a teammate, when the best player on the team is giving out that confidence to their teammates, everybody plays better. Everybody plays hard. Everybody plays the right way.

I'd like to keep Jameel crown too. We don't have any other shooting guards here or at vcu. I dont denigrate him for not beating out pick, wynter, funk, dread as a true freshman. Those guys were experienced players which allowed them to pick up shrews schemes super fast. Down the stretch shrews tightened the rotation and obviously it worked.

I’d like to see us keep all of last year’s freshman class as well as booth. I think that other than Lilley, that the rest of them could fit in Coach Rhoades system.

Seems to be silence regarding, Njie, Mahaffey, and Brown. Any word on what teams have reached out to them or if Rhoades has had much conversation with them? Anything on Booth?

I haven’t heard anything either. I’m assuming coaches first few days were all about convincing his guys from VCU to come up and now that he has ace he can start hitting the guys that are still taking classes at Penn State.

I think I read that Clary, brown, Lilly and Mahaffey all practiced with the team last week. I dont recall kebba being mentioned as being at practice, but they had a team night out at the Field and all 5 freshman were there.

Well that is certainly a positive step.

Post you responded to reminds me of the posts after we get a verbal from a 5 star. Uh oh, he verballed too early - just gives him more time to back out.

We should aim to get coaches that don’t do that great and, hence, will never leave
