An altered state
Say you hit, what would you donate to PSU, if anything? What restrictions would you put on it? Would you endow a Chair in a certain College? A Scholarship program? Specific research? A favorite sport? New building? New campus feature/landscaping? Any other ideas? How much would it be?

No fair saying a new BoT, new Admin, removing names from buildings, or replacing The Statue as we would all demand that.

I'd offer $100mm to PSU with the condition that all the non-alumni elected BoT members must resign en masse and henceforth all BoT members must be elected. This would ensure that they are accountable for their actions, instead of what we currently have with a small group of self-appointed, self-serving robbers who care about nothing but spending millions covering-up for their mistakes.

I'd start an endowment that ensured that students were in the stands by kickoff and stayed until the last second of the game... I'm not sure how that would work exactly? Pay them to come early and stay late? Maybe some sort of recognition for those who did this?

I'd also fund a new multi-sport facility that would host basketball, wrestling, volleyball, etc. with the feel of rec hall, but the size somewhere closer to BJC.

$10,000,000 to the Blue Band. Never again would they be steerage class passengers on any trips.

Hate to say it but....to PSU? $0. To church/ charity- at least half (~$225 million).

Just don't trust PSU at all. The way they take money from 1 area (tuition/ general fund donations) to pay another (lawsuits and legal fees) and then claim that money never came from the general fund because eventually they plan to pay it back out of athletic money with an 'internal loan at no interest' is ridiculous and dishonest accounting. Won't pay them a cent to continue to play this shell game with $$$ to cover their misuse of funds.

I have actually given more to the University of Pittsburgh (my transplant center) than PSU this year. Yes, a former cheerleaderand 20 year season ticket holder while living more than a thousand miles away has donated more to Pitt. That said, I would $omehow find a way to rid PSU of the corrupt Old Guard.

I'd donate $10 million subject to the following conditions
  • All BOT members serving since November 2011 agree to be questioned under oath
  • PSU agrees to pursue charges and other damages resulting from any crimes emanating from bullet point #1
  • PSU agrees to pay any associated legal expenses
  • demlion is lead attorney for the "under oath" questioning

I'd make a seven-figure gift to the Library, and then I'd pay to build or upgrade an Olympic sport facility, probably the long-overdue Natatorium extension/renovation. Football is the cash cow and has always, sensibly, been fed first by ICA, so I'd want to help ensure that our student-athletes in other sports are well outfitted. Since I don't play the Lottery, I'm told my chances of winning are a tad diminished.

2011 - $25,000,000
Today - $0.02

One interesting tact to take would be to announce you are putting $25-50 Million in an escrow account to be released when certain criteria are met like OG BoT replaced, new governance procedures in place, a refutation of the Freeh report, a full investigation of interactions between the BoT and TSM, investigation of PMA and how they took over the BoT, and several other issues resolved.

The money will not cause them to act but it would generate a lot of media interest if announced at a major press conference. Even allow some of the monies to be used for the investigation like hiring a forensic accountant. Periodically release reports to keep the issues alive and the pressure high.

Its nice to dream.....

Nothing. As long as the Old Guard is in power, even if I won 450 billion, Penn State would get nothing.

EPC that is a damn fine gesture. We walked past the four Fullington buses outside Everbank Field that brought down the band. Now, no one looked any the worse for wear, but it's the principle that counts. If riding the bus was good enough for the Blue Band, Cheerleaders and Lionettes, then it was good enough for Barron and the rest of the overhead.

I still want to know how many trustees caught a free ride on that 747.

All remaining members of the November, 2011 Board of Trustees and anyone who owes fealty to them, such as Barron.
I might suggest that this should include vacating all current members of the B&I group. If B&I trustees are to remain at all, the process for their membership selection needs to be made clear & transparent.

The currently existing B&I Trustees (& the black box process by which their trustees are chosen) are the source of Penn State's culture problem.

demlion's fees will be another 10 million but since you have PSU paying, it's all good.:)

And that is a worthy gift indeed.

Probably to many. Of course they were all upstairs in First Class. No way any of them wanted to be in the presence of the working class kids on the football team.

The University of Pittsburgh Medical Center ranks with the very best in the world. Dr. Starzl pioneered the liver transplant and had just awesome results. If he did not win the Nobel Prize, he should have.

Now the business aspects of UPMC might leave something to be desired but that has nothing whatsoever to do with the quality of the doctors and the hospitals. God forbid I ever need them, but if I ever get seriously sick, I'm telling you right now - book me into UPMC Presby and I'll take my chances that I walk out.

Well done by @KCLion.

One of the great comforts of living in the Pittsburgh area is the superb quality of medical care

Its now at 675 million, and I would donate it all to the IRS to help pay down the national debt.

My transplant was double lung in sept 2013. I can't say enough about the skills, care and support from UPMC Presby.

Fantastic. They have made such tremendous advances in transplantation.

IIRC a major breakthrough years ago was because of a new anti-rejection drug that was discovered because researchers would collect soil samples from all over the globe when they traveled, whether for business or vacation. One guy collected a sample in Sweden, again IIRC, that resulted in the anti-rejection drug. Changed the whole field.

I would talk with Coach Rose and say I would fork over the money to buy a dedicated volleyball facility built with as perfect of seating for the fans as possible as long as PSU adds sand volleyball for the girls. I'd fund the sand volleyball program if additional scholies were needed for dedicated sand players that don't play on a traditional court. Oh, and the building will be named after me in perpetuity. No other conditions. Welcome to "Volley Valley!"

Originally FK 506,- prograf. I also heard Ireland.

Do you notice a pattern here? None of us would donate to these corrupt people until they are gone and goverance is dramatically improved. Joe Paterno must be honored. Only then would I release a huge donation to PSU.

The "leaders" of the university need to read this thread. They might learn something although I doubt it.

They can have it all minus a mill for me just to know the truth, not all the cover up and nonsense that has gone on in 5 years

Plus one

Donate???? Hell with that. I'd buy a successful high tech company, run it into the ground through mismanagement and ill advised mergers, then after I'm booted out by a a Board of Directors that never should have let me run it anyways I'll run for President in the 2020 Republican primary. I just hope that's never been done before.
