Within the last 10 years, OSU also faced some sanctions, no? Not as severe as PSU though.

I think the biggest point is the difference in the tuition. That said, a lot of my friends (here in Columbus) are encouraging their kids to do their first two years at a community college as that's cheaper and credits transfer a lot better than they used to. Also, it should be noted that tOSU has gone on a huge dorm building program as they are now requiring their students to live in the dorms their first two years. That's one reason for the higher room and board.

Crew, pistol, rifle, synchronized swimming--off the top of my head (had a buddy on the pistol team back in the day and used to watch Crew row by my office building (which is on the Olentangy River). Looks like they consider cheerleading to be a varsity sport too (called "spirit program").
