Perfunctory Will Levis update............

Some things never change. It’s always the player that’s not playing that’s the best. He was never better then Clifford at penn state or at Kentucky. He was beat out. He wasn’t going to be a backup so he left. Penn State issue is 100% oline. If they were average the team would be at worse 1 loss with Clifford.

That “100% oline” needs a Levis type runner to get a first down. The 1970 era Steelers OL couldn’t block for these dancing, standing around, waiting to be tackled RBs we have in short yardage situations.

If Joe was here and was strapped with a bunch of slow, soft backs like we seem to be stuck with, he would bench them all and go the Enis route. Levis was the only guy we had that seemed to know how to run the freakin football.

Because he DIDN'T get the same in-game chances.

Oh please.

Next!

:)
you mean like in game chances like Nebraska last year when he went 14 of 31? He had plenty of snaps in games and did not look all world throwing the ball. I don't know if you realize this but guys earn playing time in practice. Not by having playing time given to you.

It is impossible to know regarding Levis and PSU. But here are some facts:
  • CJF sang "I Only Have Eyes for You" to SC two years ago. OK, that isn't a fact, but it is clear that CJF locked onto SC and that was it.
  • Even this year, when SC could hardly walk, CJF continued to play him over Roberson and SV.
  • WL took an unranked team and had them in the top ten, finishing in the top 25 and will get a better bowl than we do (all playing in the SEC).
  • How good was SC when healthy? He was good! But he also made some really bad plays. For example, running out of bounds on 3rd and 10 making it 4th and 21 at a critical time against Michigan State. On the next play, he converts it to #3.
  • WL - 66.5% CMP%, 8 YPC, 23 TD, 12 INT, 149.4 QB RTG (ESPN), 387 yds rushing
  • SC - 62.4 %, 7.4 YPC, 20TD, 6 INT, 137.8 QB Rating, 117 yds rushing
SEC vs B1G. SSO. Talent Surrounding them? Injuries?

Personally, I am happy with SC. I think he is as good or better than WL when healthy. WL is a much better runner. SC is a better passer. In any case, the staff made a huge mistake going into 2021 with out a QB prepared to take over if SC got hurt.

I think that SC and WL are not realted. Just two guys that were here at one point together. They play in two different offenses in two different leagues for two different teams.

Levis has made a lot of strides with playing time at Kentucky. I think he has a higher ceiling than Clifford. He also seems to have that swagger that QB's need. He is far from perfect and will likely end his career playing on Saturdays just like Clifford.

Clifford was playing well until Iowa. Once he was hurt he wasn't the same the rest of 2021. You really need to find a way to have two QB's ready to play especially if you expect them to run.

Penn State just really needs to look at how they want to block or how they teach it. It has been the same story for all of Franklin's tenure regardless of players or coaches. There is something fundamentally wrong at this point.
