If we lose Fleming, barren is on his own.
TM threw a bunch of great balls that were simply dropped. The WR play was atrocious.
TM also played hurt half the season.
That said, and not knowing then what I know now, I was calling for Tommy last year. I'm a little sad we aren't going to see what a healthy Tommy Stevens can do, but I agree that Clifford might be a special talent.
It's going to help to have an experienced WR coach on board. There's a ton of talent there.
As for Fleming, I'm very disappointed. But I don't think you can make too much over what one kid does in this game. I think he's going to be very good wherever he goes.
Care to share what the HS coaches impressions were/are? TIA
I’m pretty sure you are wrong on the second part. If we lose Fleming, Penn State Football is done within two years. The future of our university hinges on this decision.
247 had Penn State as the #3 overall recruiting class for 2019. They had us at #6 overall for 2018. So neither of those classes had elite recruits? Interesting.
I agree that "PSU isn't the annual contender that elite recruits are knocking down the door to attend."
However, I strongly disagree that Michigan and Va Tech were "annual contenders" that lured Henne & Jones out of PA? Those 2 were and still are more "pretenders" than "contenders."
I think 247 had PSU as the #13 overall recruiting class for 2019, not #3.247 had Penn State as the #3 overall recruiting class for 2019. They had us at #6 overall for 2018. So neither of those classes had elite recruits? Interesting.
Both of them start each year ranked way higher than deserved and then show their true colors. Neither is a championship contender and ever wins a game that matters. Yes I know UM has beaten us etc
9/6/14: Virginia Tech 35 the OSU 21.....in Columbus!
Kevin Jones wasPSU isn’t the annual contender that elite recruits are knocking down the door to attend. It hasn’t been that program in quite a long time. We will get our fair share and compete for championships every few years.
If you’ve made yourself believe otherwise...well I’m sorry.
This is Chad Henne/Kevin Jones all over again. It stings but the program will go on
Congrats. You found the one game this century where they beat a good team. Thanks for playing.
Yeah, we will. I finally got over Dan Kendra just last week. A sense of calm suddenly came over me. But then I thought we were getting Fleming. If Fleming commits-fine. If not-we will survive.
So GD ridiculous. You can't confuse some folks with the facts.
Bob, I know you spend a lot of time evaluating high school football talent. In your humble and esteemed opinion, is Fleming already the greatest player ever?I’m pretty sure you are wrong on the second part. If we lose Fleming, Penn State Football is done within two years. Well I guess you can say that we were close on Zach Harrison, based on many media reports. That would have been a stunner coming right out of Columbus. But this isn’t horseshoes. The only problem that Franklin will have if he decides to go to tosu would be a PR one. If a brand new, unproven HC can come in and poach one of PA’s best prospects literally right from the shadows of Mt. Nittany, it looks bad for obvious reasons. Or put another way, how many 5-star/can’t-miss guys has Franklin pulled out of ahiya?

Again, I type .... if State College is within a 2-hour drive to Liberty Township, Harrison is in Blue and White. His father’s job will likely prohibit him from watching Zach’s 12:00 HOME games.Well I guess you can say that we were close on Zach Harrison, based on many media reports.

BEST. PLAYER. EVER.
He even catches the ball.
We’re screwed.
Better than Dan Kendra, Chris Simms, Kevin Jones, Antwoine Womack and Chad Henne?BEST. PLAYER. EVER.

Greater than Bragalone?
Fleming’s recruitment seems pretty straightforward. He wants to be coached by Brian Hartline. Not that he hates PSU or Franklin.
Hazleton (sp?)Got something against Vidal what’s his name?
Better than Dan Kendra, Chris Simms, Kevin Jones, Antwoine Womack and Chad Henne?
There is no one greater than Bragalone. It is dumbfounding that those who evaluate talent for a living haven't realized that yet.Greater than Bragalone?
Fleming has been to PSU many times. If he truly wanted to go there, I would think this would trump his relationship with Day or their offense etc. I’m thinking that like Pryor, maybe he wants a more urban setting, or some other intangibles they offer and it’s more than a football decision.
So he wants to leave PA and go to....Ohio? That's fvcking brilliant.
Better than Dan Kendra, Chris Simms, Kevin Jones, Antwoine Womack and Chad Henne?
You may be in the minority, but it is I believe, a significant minority. When making the points about Julian's age and maturity, it is sometimes misinterpreted as "sour grapes." He is clearly a prized recruit so top coaches must believe he is ready to contribute when he walks on campus and plays as a freshman at age 20. Many moons ago, I played against a terrific running back out of Shikellamy High School, named Junior Walters. (see faces in the crowd Sports Illustrated 1966)He too was about 2 years older than the average senior. He was highly rated and recruited, but never had a great college career. The point I have tried to make is that, if a program (PSU) has depth at WR, and doesn't need immediate rescue........a 17 year old with growth potential could be his equal or very close in 2 years or so.I am in the minority on this, but I am not sold on Fleming. He is 2 years behind his original class. Should be a freshman in college instead of a junior in high school. He plays against week competition. He ran a laser timed 4.63 at the Nike combine in New Jersey.I can’t believe There isn’t a better wide receiver in Florida ,Texas, and California.I question his #1 wr status in the nation.Time will only tell.

To be clear, I would still love to see Fleming commit to PSU. I do not, however, believe the sky will fall if he does not.
?Ha! Well, just so you know, he wasn't the only all-stater that season who was born in 1947.
If OSU offered Maurice Clarett;s personal advisor and promised Fleming doesn't have to.........."play school".........how do you compete with that? Ask Clemson!Greater than Bragalone?
