An altered state
I read that Philly schools spend an average of $17,500 per student. if there are 25 kids in a class, that means they spend $437,500 per classroom. Say the teacher is paid $100,000/yr including all benefits. Where does the other $337,500 go? Even if the teacher's cost is $125,000/yr and there are only 20 kids per room, that still leaves an excess of $225,000 per classroom per year.

And when you look at these schools, many are run down and have old books. Something doesn't add up here.
