Parsons walked for a whole year-and your still claim him as your own-what hypocracy. Of course that is to be expected in our society. Will not play with the Commode Bowl.
I don't blame or criticize anyone who might go in the first 3 rounds of the draft and who isn't playing in a playoff game. It's his personal decision. Will not play with the Commode Bowl.
He walked away when the Big Ten told him there would be no season. He actually explored coming back, but had already hired an agent/accepted benefits at that point.Parsons walked for a whole year-and your still claim him as your own-what hypocracy. Of course that is to be expected in our society.

Saquon played in the Fiesta Bowl in 2017....a NY6 game but not a playoff game....same situation as Pickett. He walked away when the Big Ten told him there would be no season. He actually explored coming back, but had already hired an agent/accepted benefits at that point.
I'm sure you see how that is very different from quitting on your team before a bowl game.
Obviously PSU players have done this in the past (and a few might this year) but it is slightly more understandable when not playing in a NY6 bowl.
I feel like there is a difference, in terms of risk factors, for QBs and other players. QBs rarely suffer career-threatening injuries. If you are a RB, DE or CB that is a much higher risk factor the way QBs are taken care of by the NCAA and NFL. I can't recall any QB's not participating in important bowls.Obviously players should do what they feel is best for themselves but I’m surprised when players opt out of major bowl games. I get all the attention is (sadly) on the playoffs but I feel like playing with you team in a major bowl would be something a competitive players would be excited to do.
WELL SO MUCHJ FOR PITT WINNING THE GAME!!
Let me see - play a meaningless game and risk injury or start a professional life and prepare to be a millionaire in a few months.Obviously players should do what they feel is best for themselves but I’m surprised when players opt out of major bowl games. Different times. I don't blame him. Not a lot of loyalty anywhere in College sports anymore due to the portal, NIL and coaches jumping from team to team. He has a chance to be an early first round pick, why risk it.Will not play with the Commode Bowl.
Can't use his hyper-"athletic" fake slude anymore...time to pack it in and move onI don't like it.....I understand the money and this isn't a shot at Pickett per say....but this is a New Year's 6 bowl. I mean Barkley could have done the same thing when we played in the Fiesta....I really respect kids who play out the string with their teammates...even if it's in a limited fashion
The biggest risk to Kenny in this game is his potential ineptness. This the first time this season that he will be playing against a decent opponent. MSU might have sacked him 8 times, picked off 4 of his passes, and he might have completed 6 of 32 passes. Much better for him to hide in his parent's basement and thump his chest about his performance against 13 glorified high school teams.Let me see - play a meaningless game and risk injury or start a professional life and prepare to be a millionaire in a few months.
Easy decision. Good luck Pickett.

Didn't Michigan State's RB Walker opt out as well? That kind of evens it out a bit
Bowl winners get more $$$, right? Well, at least the college does...I wouldn't suggest he stabbed anybody in the back. I'm guessing Pickett has a better sense of his former teammates than we do. But this is not a meaningless bowl game--actually, none of them are since the stats count and the games count against your record, but I digress. This season is surely a high-water mark for Pitt. The chance to win a NY6 Bowl and finish in the top 10 might not come along again for quite some time. And if there's any position where you could protect a player from injury, it's QB. I suspect that had Whipple not left, Pickett might have made a different decision. He had a really good year. But he didn't finish it.
Lmao Michigan state has one of the worst pass defenses in country. He most likely would have carved them up.The biggest risk to Kenny in this game is his potential ineptness. Pickett wouldn't have carved up MSU while laying on his back. pitt has a woeful offensive line that is only good enough to block high school caliber players. MSU has college level players. pitt hasn't competed against real college level players yet this year.Lmao Michigan state has one of the worst pass defenses in country. The next Pitt QB doesn't currently go to Pitt.Duzzy could spin this as pitt will now get a game with the next pitt QB to get their next QB big game experience so that their new QB is more ready to play well in 2022. But it would not surprise me to see pitt go after a Portal QB to start in 2022.
So I agree, pitt football has been out of the top 10 conversation since 48-14 in 1981, 40 years, and having a chance to finish top 10 should have been enough motivation for Duzzy to convince Picket that he should play and just play cautiously as far as running and avoiding contact. Avoiding the rush and turning potential losses into completed passes or positive runs is a big part of Picket's game but he could slide earlier, head for OOB's earlier, and avoid contact. Actually, from the few games I have seen Picket really does do a very good job of avoiding taking hits.
But since his avoiding sacks and running is such a big part of his game and his college success, that's one of the reasons that I hope the Steelers pass on him, as NFL QB's that try to extend time in the pocket at any cost usually end up in pieces..... NFL QB's need to find the open receiver quickly and get rid of the ball.
I remember watching when Picket played against PSU believing that PSU should have sacked him 5 or 6 more times in the game. But Picket got away from near sacks his whole career at pitt. He has very good pocket awareness which is very important in the NFL. Just believe his luck will run out versus the top NFL pass rushers.....
Do you think Roberson would lower himself and sign with pitt? Roberson probably has higher aspirations than to play at a MAC level school in a rented stadium in front of about 15,000 sleepy attendees. The next Pitt QB doesn't currently go to Pitt.
Roberson wouldn't sniff the field at Pitt. While I am all for a random dig on Pitt, I would be careful with this one.Do you think Roberson would lower himself and sign with pitt? YEA 2 BEST PLAYERS ON EACH TEAM SO MUCH FOR THAT BOWL!!Didn't Michigan State's RB Walker opt out as well? That kind of evens it out a bit
