Anybody been to a Pitt-Penn State game at Pitt? In the old campus stadium?

A couple of guys on our Indie bowling team ( don't laugh. The "Head Pins" won the trophy that year.) were from The Burgh were driving down for the game, and invited me along. ( Not bad for a Philly kid.) They probably wanted to reduce their gas costs by splitting it 2 ways instead of 1. The guy who provided the car of course got off "free."

Now some recollections may be a bit foggy but we stopped off and walked around an old Pgh hotel near campus, with fully loaded flasks, in the snow with temps in the upper 20s, then headed to the stadium. I remember a hole in the ground and a lot of bricks. Seats were pretty good, near the 20, about 5 rows back.

I think we won, and at the end of the game, the guys, whose car was to return me to SC , jumped out of the stadium and floated down to the cinder track below. I hesitated, and asked myself if I really wanted to do this. But as they gathered themselves off the track and started running out onto the field, I had no other choice. My flask was on empty so I decided to try flying the 15 or so feet down, landed back on my heels, toppled over, got up and ran onto the field with a large number of happy people, and eventually got back to campus late that night. The day went by fast, but my heels were never the same. Kinda tender when I stood on them, which was often. For at least 5 years they remained that way and from time to time still act up.

So Pitt has a special place in my feet, for that reason.
