Pitt currently #55 in recruiting behind La Tech, Fla Atlantic & W. Mich

Maybe, but recruiting rankings aren't very significant at this stage of the game.

Maybe not but look at the recruiting start that Franklin had this time last year during his first full recruiting cycle at PSU and compare that to how Narduzzi is starting out in this cycle. Of course, I'm sure Pitt fans feel that they can simply follow the "Michigan State" model that says you can win 11+ games a year with nothing but 2-3 star recruits. Of course, 3 years ago when Chryst was in his first year, they thought they could win by following "the Wisconsin model". How did that work out for them?

They constantly talk about the energy and newfound buzz surrounding the program since Narduzzi has taken over. I personally think they traded up. But if there was going to be electricity it would have showed up early like it did for Franklin @ PSU and his recruiting abilities. Head to head comps we are still favored for most the guys they want badly.

The uptick was minimal. No matter what if PSU is looking on the rise or is already there they aren't going to be a real competitor overall(yeah they will on individuals) for recruits.

Number 55 behind La Tech, Florida Atlantic, and Western Michigan, that's simply Pittiful!

247 Sports "predicts" that PSU will wind up with a very good class - most likely "ranked" 10-15. As for PITT ???????????

There will be a lot of pressure for Narduzzi to start very well early in order to recruit well. So far, the results of his recruiting efforts are not impressive. If he comes out and drops a game to Akron or starts 2-2, any momentum he built with the 92 Pitt fans will dwindle. He has to take advantage of this year with Boyd and Conner, because the dropoff the following year will be poor and they have Clemson, Penn State, and Okie St. on the schedule. OUCH!

Their best recruit, the kid from Ohio whose name I cannot remember, will be gone in a second if OSU picks him as a plan B kid and offers. I'm hoping that happens not so much that I dislike Pitt, but more hoping that OSU doesn't get all their Plan A kids. Although Pitt losing him would still be comical.

Pitt's recruiting slogan this year seems to be "To finally beat MAC teams, you have to out recruit MAC teams.".

With all seriousness though, the above posts that comment on the lack of success that Narduzzi has had so far verses the expectations, given that Pitt really landed the best HC option that they had a realistic shot is, has got to be disappointing. I, at least, was expecting much more success early on given the new coach smell. Maybe it's harder to overcome decades of mediocrity, and years of coaching instability and empty yellow seats, than I thought.

I thought those empty yellow seats helped recruiting. At least that's what Pitt would like recruits to believe. You mean real Steeler fans sit in those seats??? Wowwwwww!!!! I want to go to school here!!!

The "empty" seats ARE a recruiting tool !!! Recruits can tell their family and friends there are plenty of seats available to watch them "play". :)

"Hey kid, you could play at Heinz field and p1ss in the same urinal as Big Ben!!!"

Quite literally, their best recruiting shout.

"Also, if you use a stall and don't flush, the toilet water matches the empty seats outside!"

Yay!!!! Go Pitt Go!!!!!

Morons.

Narduzzi is trying to land the top recruits. But its still unknown what kind of recruiter he'll eventually be. They need a big verbal to see what kind of effect it might have. They haven't gotten it yet.

Narduzzi was credentialed as a great defensive coach, but not necessarily a great recruiter. He needs good recruiters around him, and the budget there for assistant coaches is still very poor, in spite of their recent increase. There is no reason to assume that this guy will all of a sudden turn into Urban Meyer on the recruiting trail. Or even Brady Hoke.
