Pitt finishes 137th in Directors Cup. Worst athletic progams in P5.

Please list your favorite school that Pitt is behind in the standings.

Mine? Lipscomb, which I’m 95% sure is a made up name and not a real college.

I've never gotten too excited about the Directors Cup but c'mon Pitt. The next highest P5 school is Kansas State way up at #94. Even the entire Ivy League finished ahead of them. No worries in Oakland though. Pitt dropped women's tennis in favor of women's lacrosse. That'll be their ticket to a top 100 finish.

So, once again, Stanford leads the way in the race to measure “Which University’s (Universities? :) ) ICAs are willing to sponsor the most activities that no one cares about”

Yippee for Stanford (and the PAC12)

Of course, this will be wonderful grist for the “Let’s thump out chests and give everyone a big raise” Mill at ICAs across the country.

Which ones are you classifying in that bucket? I’d bet they’d beat us without them. For years we padded our ranking with wrestling, volleyball and fencing, that 90% of sports fans don’t care about.

It's a bullshit competition created by athletic directors so that they might get another piece of hardware for their trophy cases and run up to their presidents to proudly exclaim,"Look, Mommy, see what I found!!!" Little did these nimrods expect that, save for the first award, Stanford would exert a stranglehold on it.

Speak for yourself. The excitement of college sports is the chance to cheer for "lesser" programs. You are not a sports fan if you make a comment like this. Now you go to my Ignore wasteland.

Let’s just refer to pitt as 137.

I assume the pitter rationale for 137 is that pitt has a higher calling and therefore hasn’t sold out for big-time athletics.
Yes, and until they start cheating in every sport like every other school not named Pitt does, they will never catch up.

Ah, but Pitt did finish 1st in the McAndrew Board School Mention Standings, easily besting Ohio State, Michigan, and all other members of the BigTen combined. :)

I would classify it more as 'Mocking' Pitt and their 6 fans....the others, not so much. Big difference.

Most here likely agree with you. I do not. To me the greatest insult you can give Pitt fans is to ignore them. The continuing posts about them leads their fans to believe they matter. I personally think, and I expect this will be a solitary opinion, that many here subconsciously feel inferior to Ohio State and Michigan and so they pick on Pitt as if to say "At least we're better than those guys." I will now exit this thread before those with pitchforks, or should I say Pittforks?:) and torches come after me.

If our spring sports had a pulse. Wow. Spring really brought us down.

Your post was stupid. His was not an overreaction. Penn Staters have every reason to be proud of our wrestling program. If you aren't, then that's on you.
My post said 90% of people don’t care about. It said nothing about whether I care. Hell, I’m a regular on the wrestling board, I was on what some might consider a minor sport squad, I was friends with several fencers, gymnasts and volleyball players. The truth is in numbers people care most about FB and BB, then pockets like a few others sports. Few care about as many as I care about.

Okay I’ll speak for myself and never again state an observation about others’ preferences. I like track, wrestling, volleyball, baseball, soccer, ...

Have you looked at that list? I live a few miles from Columbia and didn’t even know they have sports there. Do you think schools like Yale, Columbia etc are cheating in sports? Really?

I believe he was mocking what would likely be the rationale of the dolts on the Pitt board. "Everyone else cheats while we play it clean!! It's not fair!!"
