Was listening to ESPNU today on the way home for about 10 mins and they had a discussion with the baseball trade deadline combining college football and asked “programs in college football that remind you of baseball teams”.

Someone tweeted the show and said “Pitt is the college football equivalent of the NY Mets”. The hosts were genuinely amused by this and drew comparisons such as “had success in the 70’s but none recently, fans always think they are going to be better than they really are, they are little brother to an in state team in Penn State just as the Mets are to the Yankees”....then one host went one step further, “At least the Mets have seen success in this Millennium”...ouch.

Was just perfect for me as a Phillies fan to get two teams I can’t stand getting a swift kick in the nuts at once.

Wondering if the Nats will hang 50 on the Mets tonight.

Not a great comparison. Mets have been in the World Series 3 times since 1986 .

Mets were in the world series in 2015. That's pretty recent.

Which was the point the host threw out at the end shooting a little barb at Pitt “At least the Mets have seen some success in this millennium”.
