I thought the limits were 25 and 85 but there are ways around this. Quick review shows amongst others Alabama, Clemson, Michigan. Nebraska, Ole Miss, Purdue, TCU and Texas A&M are over the 25 limit, there may be others. Second part, do grad transfers account against either limit? Also noticed McCoy(?) transferring from USC to TEXAS signed a grant in aid, I suspect no scholarship this year and immediate eligibility.

There is no way around the 85..

The 25 is hard to measure because early entrants may count against the previous year, provided that the school has room against that year's 25. In order to determine how many, you'd have to track going back years.

As for McCoy, it's a given that he'll have a scholarship. Whether he plays is another matter.

do you know if the 25 number has a max cap in terms of how you can count early entrants? do you know if the conferences can adjust that max? it certainly is complex and looks like UMich has 132 scholarships over the 5 years of JH recruiting. even more than Bama at 121. they are all living within the rules of the 85 limit with a lot of turnover.

Is there a cap on the number of early entrants that can be counted against the previous class? Yes, 25. Can conferences impose their own rules? Yes, as long as their numbers don't exceed those allowed by the NCAA.

Rather than get your panties in a wad, just keep three things in mind: a) the number that any school can have on scholarship at any given point in time is 85; 2) the maximum number in any class to whom any school can initially provide financial aid is 25; and c) the football staff knows how to count.

There are no caps on how many EEs you can back count, other than staying under the 85/25/25 rules

I thought bgan was the official PSU counter.

I can think of better things to do than keeping track of all of the moving parts like watching paint dry, trees grow, and cleaning grout.

I get the 85 - what is hard to figure out is how the staff can get to the 85 number when they take such a large number in every year (max out), you need a lot of guys moving early. seems like a coaching nightmare unless they have some years where you recruit 20 or less, in order to balance out and make 85. maybe it is easier than I think.

So fvcking follow the roster movements of every team out there. There's no pixie dust that will enlighten you in in 30 seconds.

It's hardly a "coaching nightmare." They're the ones that are largely creating it.
