To play Devil's Advocate. At 41, Nick could lose to Rivera or Eierman, though I would still favor Nick, he'd be a slight fave. At 49, he's a massive favorite over the whole field.

All of that said, he's earned the right to choose, IMO.
Eireman? Is there another Eireman, other than the one Nick teched a few months ago?
Yawny was the only guy at either weight who I think COULD have beaten Nick.

I agree that Nick is the fave, but if you think he’s a massive favorite over Rivera or Eierman, then we just disagree.

I personally believe Nick will beat Eierman. Seabass is the one I'm worried about. We'll see how Rivera handles the new weight (and Rutgers!) but the kid has defeated S. Lee, RBY, and Gross during the past several years. Anyone that can beat those three can beat anyone.

So, Verkleeren on Instagram suggests he’s the one at 149. I admire Verk for all that he’s overcome and wish him the best. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a little disappointed it’s not gonna be BB.

I think you may be jumping to conclusions there. I'm pretty sure there's going to be more than 10 bouts at most duals (not all counting to the dual score). Gibbons even said tonight that those extra bouts are going to count towards potential B1G seeding.

Also, "Who's ready to see my improvements?" is hardly the same as being named the starter.

I’m hoping you’re right. No one is gonna see his improvements if he’s not starting, was my initial thought.

We have 2 tri-meets. Would not be surprised to see Verk get into those if Bartlett is the starter (or vice versa).

Regardless, it's always good to have guys who are eager to show how they've improved.

But there are also extra “JV” matches at every B1G dual this year, it seems. Apparently those aren’t televised, but they are happening. Hopefully, Byers will call them for us.

May not be televised, but maybe Rokfin??
Smalls, put down that NattyLight and get on THIS.

If Verk beats out Bartlett then good for him, he has earned the spot, which is the core value of our program (and any elite program really)

If Bartlett is to score for us at NCAAs (which is the bar for starting true freshman) then that should coincide with beating Verk, plain and simple.
Well, this year's a little different re: starting trFR - this year will not count against eligibility which is why you saw so many trFR on the mat in the Friday night matches on BTN.

You know, I was looking forward to the possibility of Nick Lee balling up Echemendia this year, but it looks like we won't see it. Given the potential for C-C-C to put Nick at 149, I thought it had no chance. But then, after seeing the certification weights, I had hope again. And now, I'm crushed, once more.

...as Echemendia lost his wrestle off, 6-4.

Good thing wrestling doesn’t have Herbie’s “eye test”

Love the sense of humor but I remember pondering the same thing. They aren't the same price either. This needs to be investigated :) I demand to know the cost per ounce :)

a double cheeseburger 🍔 is two “cheeseburgers

a McDouble is two hamburgers with one piece of cheese 🧀 in the middle
