Predictions for # of Champs and AAs

RBY - 1st
BB - 6th
SVN - DNP
Haines - 5th
Facundo - DNP
CStar - 1st
AB - 1st
Dean - DNP
Kerk - 2nd

I think it’s close to worst case scenario. I see Dean AAing fairly comfortably which gives us breathing room if one of the big 3 doesn’t win
Truthfully, I'm not worried but not taking anything for granted because anything can happen. Just want to get this thing started!

Reasonable, unfortunately that would give Iowa a fighting chance.
Max is a gamer at NCAA’s but his bracket and draw is brutal. SVN is the one I keep going back and forth on as far as reaching all American. I think both him and Facundo will be close but fall just shy. I hope I’m wrong on all 3 of them.

I don’t think Iowa is going to have a great tournament. Looking at them I lean..

Lee - 1st
Teske - DNP
Woods - 1st
Murin - 8th
Cobe - DNP
Kennedy - 6th
Brands - DNP
Assad - DNP
Warner - DNP
Cass - 3rd

If Iowa wrestles to seed, they will get 2 NC and 5 AA.

1st, DNP, 1st, 8th, DNP, 6th, DNP,DNP, DNP, 4th

If Joe's prediction is the worst-case scenario, the Hawks will still need to have a great tourney to keep it close.

That scenario gives PSU 95 points before bonus assuming the DNPs don't score a single point so reasonably, that's 115-120 points. I don't see how Iowa gets to that amount tbh, even if you give Spencer and Woods a combined 55.

I think Kennedy has a shot at going deep. Warner is a wildcard. Just don't know what he has left, but wouldn't be surprised if he made a run. I agree that Iowa has to have a great tourney and we under achieve. Going to be fun.

We still don't know how good Levi is. I remember Nolf and Nickal's freshman year when they both picked off multiple top 10 guys. If there is a downside to PSU's guys not getting a lot of matches it's that the young ones are still feeling their way through by the time Nationals come around.

In the blood round Kennedy has to beat either Griffith or the Oregon St kid, tough assignment. If he gets that done, I can see him placing 4th.

I watched the BB game today and coincidentally I started drinking about 4:30 so I may not have my faculties in tack, but I'm going:

6 Champs
9 AA's

I like our guys. Dean has me scared a bit and Facundo could use a head butt, but I'm confident.
I like to know what you are drinking to feel that euphoric and happy. I need whatever it is.🍾

Two returning finalists from the previous year, Warner and Dean, must wrestle above seed to reach AA.

Has that ever happened before?

This.

If PSU does have a worst case scenario as outlined, Iowa still has to have a best case scenario to be in the neighborhood.

RBY, CStar, AB, Kirk champs
BB, Max, Haines AA
SVN, Alex R12
I think this scenario is quite possible. Only caveat is that Kirk needs to get some sense of urgency in his approach. Not panic, and not overly-aggressive, but he needs to come with some more determination and urgency. He HAS the skills to win it all.

How many finalists does PSU produce - is another good discussion. I'll go with 6 - 133, 157, 174, 184, 197 and HWT.

I'm thinking 5 champs, 6 finalists, 8 AAs. I think 165 may be just too deep and difficult for Facundo this year. We'll see. It may come down to him vs Caliendo or Kharchla in the blood round. That's tough.

Yep, 165 is just brutal. Looks like Yant and Barcsak are the only 2 in the tourney that won't have eligibilty left next year? That's crazy. Facundo has a tough road ahead the next couple of years.

I'll go out on a limb here. I predict there will be 10 guys winning titles - one at each weight, and 70 guys placing in spots #2 to #8 at each weight.

That's a bold prediction Cotton - let's see how it plays out.

149 and 165. But I think both have a very realistic shot of AA'ing which is why I said PSU has a very real shot at 9 AAs.

In terms of Champs, you have 133, 174 and 184..... and I'm guessing 1 out of 157, 197 and HWT.
You and I are thinking along the same lines. For the KYPSW I went with Haines getting a championship and went with SVN getting AA. It seems every year I underestimate the team… hope I do the same this year as well.
