Pregame with Wino Friday

Friday nights are a big bar night in state college, but the kids don't come out really until 10 or so. There are several good eating options near these places, so if things are busy at one, you can try another. The Indian place across from Local Whiskey is pretty good. Lupita's on Beaver is the most authentic mexican I've had in SC (though still not really in the top quarter of mexican I've had elsewhere--the tamales are great). Allen St Pizza is new, has decent pizza and wings. Margarita's Pizza on Beaver is the closest to "NY style" these days. Then there's BRGR, Pickles, The Corner Room (if its open, a roll of the dice). Champs has good food (on Allen), I like the Shawarma cart on the corner of Pugh & Beaver. Tadashi (on College--if you want sushi, it's the one on Atherton) is some mighty fine Ramen. Hell--5 guys is good too (and I sometimes see our wrestlers there--though probably not before weigh-ins). Snap Pizza is good, and you can support Roman.
I forgot about Cozy Thai on Allen. Very consistent Thai food there. Love the drunken noodles.

I was late. No way I was getting home early enough to get into the Y. Probably around 830PM.

Back in December my wife and I took our youngest granddaughter to the Nutcracker in Pittsburgh. We tried to stop and eat dinner after the ballet, but my granddaughter kept insisting she wasn't hungry until we got close to Ebensburg. I ask if she wanted a couple dogs from Sheetz, "Nooooo!" Where do you want to eat? Texas Hotdogs by DelGrosso's.
She just wanted a banana split. I would have rather stopped at The Meadows for the ice cream, but the kid gets what the kid wants.

Your kid has good taste, frozen custard for me though. Also, I would love a couple of chili-cheese dogs from Austin's Texas Hotdogs by Bland's Park right about now.

@7brwnpsu has tickets he needs to unload.

Sold them! And ironically they are in the row behind me!
Many thanks to 82bordouex and 86PSUPaul for their help but they did not sell.

Edit: List on Ticketmaster.

Put 2 of them at the cheapest price in the arena $65. Basically break even with TM fees. Non gouge price. They sold!

The immediately went back on sale for $111.00.

And I aced all my Econ classes. At least that was my grade.

My brother has been a Stagehand for 40 years and is attached to the Pittsburgh Ballet. He had to be there for Every Nutcracker show.

It never made it down to my number so I worked the Christmas Carol.

I'll be at the Ebensburg Sheetz about 3:00pm tomorrow. If I hit that light it will be 3:30.

I'm hoping I'll be at that red light at about the same time on way to state college. Funny, years ago I posted that Jimmy Gulibon was sitting waiting on a red light next to me. It was that same light. Lol

Don’t mention the Swarma truck to my wife! It was just outside our hotel window last Friday night and kids were there yelling until at least 3 am! She is a light sleeper…..

In my day the Skeller filled up early afternoon on fridays! I did many a case study there.
Guys, to keep my accounting license I have to take 4 hours of Ethics classes biannually.

I think I might have violated the code of conduct when I paid the Swarma truck dude to move his truck and his masses of students to right under the hotel window of the Brands and Spencer Lee's room last night (little known fact they always have ajoining rooms and have the same Pokémon stuffed ainimals).

I only asked him to move the truck for one night! Try it I said. I said dude beside my untraceable cash you'd be getting from me, better sales here and possible future NIL money. Plus Spencer can come down and meet his Penn State and Young Guns fans at 3:00am. Hell if he is on weight a falafel at 3:30 am hits the spot!

Everyone says Gary is light, he may also be there to make the 125 minimum.

Ethics smethics, I had to do something special for the Brands when they come to town every five years!

We should all wear Cstroke buttons! It would freak all the wives out!
Yeah that's all I need. She already accuses some of my friends of cultish behavior..
I'm going to go out of this world the old fashioned way not with a dull steak knife to the throat.

The Skeller should have been designated as a historic landmark. Still can't believe that it's gone.

Decides Terrence Howard GIF

None of these are what you'd call pre-dual options but I nevertheless want to give a shoutout to three outstandaing downtown SC restaurants that are worth a visit.
  • Cafe Alina, at 421 E Calder Way (Pakastani)
  • Right across the street, at 409 E Calder Way is Bistrozine, which is an Asian ramen place but with a far more adventurous menu than typical Asian ramen places.
  • One of my favorite go-to lunch places is Penn Pide, at 127 W Beaver, which has Turkish staples; the couple that own/run it are the nicest people. The lamb special is outstanding, and the "pide" (pictured below) is one of the best things ever.

The cheesecake or the turndown service?

FYI, I tried to get reservations for the Tavern on Tuesday morning and they were booked. So some of us might move to Local Whisky about 6 pm. My wife is not a big fan of Doggies, she calls it a dungeon. And she isn't wrong...
Need reservations at LW?
