A wrestler who meets 2 out of 3 criteria (70% or greater win %, top 30 coaches rank, or top 30 RPI) will earn a pre-allocated spot for his conference. Wrestlers then can earn an automatic qualifying spot at NCAA's by finishing high enough in their conference tourney. For example, if the Big 10 has 8 pre-qualifying spots at a weight, the top 8 finishers in the conference tourney will earn a berth to NCAA's. A wrestler earning a pre-qualifying spot for the conference tourney doesn't guarantee that wrestler a spot at NCAA's, they still have to finish high enough at the conference tourney or get awarded an at-large bid. Below shows the pre-allocated spots right now based on results through Feb 14.

Do you do this yourself or use SHP Britt Malinsky data

Just for the heck of it, here are the number of wrestlers from each B1G squad that contributed to the number of pre-allocated spots:

PSU - 10
Nebraska - 10
Rutgers - 10 (count 'em!)
Iowa - 8 (nothing at 141 or 157)
Minnehaha - 8
Ill-annoy - 8
ScUM - 6
anOSU - 6
Indiana - 6
Maryland - 5
Purdue - 4
Northwestern - 4
Wisky - 2 ( I recall when the Badgers were a tough out)
Sparty - 1 (sad but true; woof)

157 could go 7 or 9.

Chumbley has 1 match left -- vs. Iowa. If he goes and faces Teemer, that's likely a loss that drops him below .700 with no RPI.

And if Ohio State declares Cannon the starter, then he probably adds a spot. He'll have Win % and is projected to have a top 10 RPI.

Nice! He did go a step further and figured out all conferences which moves the cut line at some weights since the NCAA will only allocate 29 per weight. I guess some have more time on their hands than I do! :)

Teemer needs to beat Chumbley and Fish and he will be 6-2 75% and he will have a coaches ranking and allocate.

Cannon will definitely add a spot and so can Teemer. And with Cannon's win over Chittum he will definitely get into coaches poll as well

Everybody knows I have too much time on my hands.

FYI, Chumbley got his seventh win this past Friday, after everything was calculated and released. That's why he doesn't appear on my list.

Haha! I have a few allocations off for the Big 10 because of the sliding scale but it's always interesting to see where everything stands. Chumbley's win put him at 70% exactly but he has Teemer tomorrow so most likely going to drop below the win% again.

Very true. One of Chumbley or Teemer is going to have to steal a spot at Big Ten's unless Storniolo wants to send Chumbley to an open next weekend.

With Cannon now being the guy for Ohio st at 157 he will allocate. My guess is Teemer doesn't care about an allocation and him being healthy at Big 10s is more important. Could see the big 10 getting 9 at 157. With Cannon and Chumbley earning

The only way Chumbley earns a pre-allocation is if he beats Teemer today, unless Teemer doesn't go and then he beats Estrada. If Chumbley loses his win% drops below 70% and he doesn't have enough matches for RPI.

Or if he sits today.

If Chumbley sits and doesn't hit an open he's right at .700 and with the possibility of the cut line moving he might not allocate with a .700. And he only has 10 matches and won't have a RPI. So he needs winning %
