Great college players aren't always great pro players. It's also why she couldn't lead them past the Sweet 16. That team crashed the second Maggie left if we're being honest
IIRC, Maggie's WNBA career never got going because of ACL injuries.

Yep, interesting how many believe that people that actually stand on their beliefs should change or accept the beliefs of other that they don't agree with.

I respect her for sticking to her beliefs. Just because others do not agree with her, even if a spineless university fires her, does not make her beliefs and actions "archaic".
You do realize that those beliefs run contrary to federal law? Do you suggest the university just ignore federal law?

I always love the "the players that I knew" statements

My junior year I played in a professor pick up game in Rec Hall at lunch. The Lady Lions practiced afterwards and would often join the games to warm up.

I asked Suzie McConnell out and was kindly rejected...she married her boyfriend from that time.

A large Scandanavian player...a center whom I used to match up against asked me out. I said no....what the hell was 20 year old me thinking????

Those Lady Lions teams were very good and fun to watch.

Rene had a problem with gay players hitting-on and bullying other hetero players, especially the freshman hetero's. Rene spoke about this publicly.

Not sure if this was real at PSU, but I know it was/is real at at least 1 PSAC school. A pupil who I coached in softball with my daughter was a very good high school basketball player.

Started only playing hoops at 10. Father was a former Patriot League football player from Coal Country. Family spent a lot of time and $ developing her game in hopes of a college scholarship.

Young Lady won a Philly Area Wendy's Student Athlete Award for her combo of brains and play. Recruited by a bunch of D3 colleges but the financial aid wasn't favorable as her dad makes good coin.

Set her heart on a PSAC school where they typically give 50% tuition to players...maybe 2 or 3 full schoolys to stars.

During her recruitment she told me about the lifestyle and culture of the team and had reservations. One player had attended our high school so there were plenty of party pix. Bullying of "straights" was a concern she had picked up during the process.

In the end she earned a President's Full tuition scholarship to that same PSAC. Didn't join the team. Had double the scholly majored in Accounting and has a great job at a major firm.

Wow, what a coinsidence. Back when Rene was ousted a group of us were sitting around discussing the situation. My one neighbor, who played for a PSAC school in the early 90's, revealed that she was one of the straight girls that got bullied during her freshman year.

I was friends with a straight girl who played softball for a PSAC school and same thing….the straight girls were often bullied by the gay players.

Sounds like you would be a big fan of George Wallace.
