PSU Football - Mt. Rushmore

Wasn't Curt Warner the first freshman ever to start for Joe? Or something similar.

What say ye Art.

Pretty sure it was Randy Sidler in 1974... as a TE. He switched to DL the next year, was All-American in '77 as a NG. Tough as nails player who could have played at a number of positions.

Thank you Bob, but who is Jimmy Cefalo? :p

Oh. boy, Step, you are taxing my memory here. I think Cefalo was/is from Pittston, PA. He was a Parade All American RB who moved to WR later at PSU and in the NFL. A good Italian boy, Jimmy was heavily recruited; his mother made the spaghetti sauce that Joe raved about for years.

oops ... sorry Meister, I posted before reading your post. It takes me a while to get my pudgy fingers typing and my brain functioning. :)

NP. Just glad your brain is still functioning.

I was at the first game that Cef played. IIRC, he had two TDs one as a receiver and one on a kick return....don't remember if it was punt or kickoff. But he wasn't listed on any play lists or program and it took a qtr before the announcers knew who scored the first TD.

By the end of the game, every one knew who he was!;)

I saw this on FB for the NFL. Thoughts for PSU football?

If you were to carve a Mount Rushmore for your favorite team, which four heads would make the cut?

It's very hard to pick 4. Certainly Paterno and Cappelletti need to be on it. Mike Reid and Matt Millen. Blackledge should be on it. Curt Warner should be on it. The 1994 team could have its own all by itself (Collins, Carter, Brady, Hartings). LaVar Arrington should be on it. And then you have a long period of time where nobody should be on it except maybe Michael Robinson. Then Barkley

Thanks Bob, sorry to put you through the explanation. I remember Cefalo well, You're a gentleman, you should have told me to suck a lemon or something

Pittston, Luzerne County - A special dedication on Saturday night in the city of Pittston.

"A large part of who I am and why I am came from this town, this wonderful community represented by all these great people." said a proud Jimmy Cefalo on Saturday night.

The former Pittston Area, Penn State and Miami Dolphins football player Jimmy Cefalo was honored guest speaker Saturday night for the dedication of the new Pittston mural.

The art work appears on the side of the five story Newrose Building on Main Street. It features prominent Pittston residents and others who made their mark on the community and the world.

"It makes us whole and it shows us where we came from and where we're going." said Mayor Jason Klush

Cefalo told the crowd "This is always going to be home. It always has been and it always will be.

The Pittston mural painted by artist Michael Pilato is the third largest in Pennsylvania.

Oops. I failed once again to detect the sarcasm font. Maybe in my youth I would have snarled something at you, but at my age, I just want to get to Heaven. And that isn't a cakewalk for me.
