PSU-only Recruits & Commits news

Any news or updates regarding Marcus Blaze lately and his timeframe for a decision? Bo Bassett has a 30 page thread, I’m just looking for info on Blaze who is just as good imo, TIA
Bumping this back up… anyone hearing anything about Blaze?

Ohio State fans not optimistic about Blaze (or Bassett) (general feeling was that Blaze favoring PSU):

I don't think that Bassett knows where he is going but I do think he will go to the power program that offers him the most NIL. My inkling is that Iowa will produce a huge package for him. As far as Blaze goes I think it will be PSU. He just came back from worlds which is basically a huge recruiting trip for PSU with 4 of their wrestlers earning world medals.

I’ll be surprised if Blaze doesn’t come to PSU at this point. It just makes too much sense. He fits perfectly weight wise and being around the PSU coaches and wrestlers at U20’s should just drive home the point that PSU is where he belongs. Hopefully his decision comes soon.

You have to admit that was a helluva recruiting trip.

I love it "give Cael the last draft pick so he stops getting better" lmao. I bet Ben would be great on a pod cast! Lol

So we saw bo and Jax at Michigan together , who was the top recruit at yesterdays game

I wonder if this was because Blaze and Forrest told Cael "no thanks".
Well Forrest is in the process of taking visits so imagine he hasn't done that yet. Blaze I imagine we'll all know when he announces.

The reason is because Dekraker is an under the radar PA stud (just wait he'll shoot up the rankings the next 2 years) that Cael now has the ability to offer a full scholarship to when he had to before convince him to try to take a small partial.

All I'll say is this, Cael going all in on a kid this early (Class of 2026 for Dekraker) shows he is EXTREMELY high on his potential (Cael is a notorious late contacter at times) We've seen this work out before VERY well because Cael has a solid track record of talent evaluation.

Dekraker is not from PA. He's now at Chantilly (Virginia) which is his 5th HS in 3 years. St. Mary's, Blair, CR North, FCA, Chantilly.

Tyler "De-Kracken" isn't even on Diceman's spreadsheet. Who the heck is this kid and what's the consensus?

He went to Blair then transferred to Faith Christian Academy, and I see her has only a 1 point loss to Rainey.

We he wouldn't be on a visit if Cael didn't see, well, what he sees.

An official doesn't mean "Cael going all in." Racciato's parents stayed at Cael's house on their official, and he got a low-ball offer. We'll see.

That said, there is some pre-existing relationship. DeKraker has competed with M2 in the past. And if Cael already knows a guy and thinks he isn't a fit, then Cael isn't wasting an official on him.

In the past yes but every rostered wrestler can get a full scholarship now and I imagine that is something Cael supports and Kraft will fund.

We'll see about that in the short term. PSU has far below 30 endowed scholarships for wrestling. Kraft will support fundraising for more, but that's competing with many other Athletics fundraising priorities -- such as the $700M in Beaver Stadium debt, which means new wrestling scholarships will need to be raised and endowed, not budgeted. (As if they would've been budgeted without the football debt.)

They're far below 30 because the limit was 9.9. Get your point from an economic standpoint but from what I hear about Kraft, he will give Cael the absolute maximum.

In time, agreed. And it might not be very long.

But now? Doubt it. Where is the money coming from?

PSU might allow Kraft to do some things like matching funds for anything raised. But not fund year-to-year scholarship disbursements out of the Athletics budget.

Kraft will bust his hump getting the program the funding it seeks, but as Jefe pointed out raising those kinds of funds when competing with others for the same dollars it will take time.

Sounds like Blaze is close and we are leading.

That news would cool off Cael’s hot seat
While this may be the 3rd or 4th time I've seen "Blaze is close and we're leading", it's definitely the 1st time I've seen "Cael is in the hot seat." Why is Cael in the hot seat?

He failed to secure all 6 Olympic spots for NLWC in the same year he failed to secure 10 finalists at NCAAs? Who wouldn’t be in hot water after that nonsense.
