You can see the PSU roster on trackwrestling now here:

Nothing really earth shattering to read into it. Everything seems to point to what is expected - JG at 141, ZR at 149.

Only things I noted are that Beitz looks like he weighed in for certs between 149 and 157 which probably means he is certing at 149 (probably, just guessing) and he's not going to be the biggest 165 if that's where he is going to try to win the spot at. Which makes sense teamwise as we need backup coverage at 49 and 57. Also, it looks like Vincenzo hasn't certed yet - not sure if he's dinged up or just wasn't where he needs to be if he was planning to cert 49.

before everyone gets excited at seeing Nico at 133 and Morgan at HWT....that is their eligibility weight if they were wrestling today. Point being they certify get a descent plan and then follow that to the weight they will wrestle during the season.

That makes sense, especially when you consider:

Nico - 133 (expected 125)
Conaway - 141 (expected 133)
Gulibon - 149 (expected 141)
Zain - 157 (expected 149)
Nolf - 165 (expected 157)
Hammond - 174 (expected 165)
Rasheed - 174 (expected 165)
Nickal - 184 (expected 174)
McCutcheon - 197 (expected 184)
McIntosh - 285 (expected 197)

Guys that were somewhat off from the weight we've speculated about them wrestling at:

Beitz - 157 (expected to be 165)
Brill - 184 (expected to be 165, though there were questions about whether he could make that weight)
Dinmore - 149 (expected to be at 149 -- perhaps he's ahead of plan, or is just lighter than expected)

Brill could be 175 right now and still be certified for 165 before the 1st dual meet, so you never know with those listed weights. Dinmore was another one I noticed but failed to mention. If he's listed at 149, it most likely means he is 149.0 or under (unless there was an input error, which is not uncommon), which would say to me that he's aiming for a lower cert (or he could just be unconcerned with cert and just wrestling and weighing where comfortable), very surprising considering he wrestled 152 in HS.

This might explain why so many of Track's listed weights (not just for PSU, but across college and HS) were wrong last year. Correct on the individual matches but wrong on the rosters.

Or maybe it was FUBAR. Can't ever rule that out ...

I don't think you can make too much out of track's weight class listings. I look at this stuff a lot because of my work with ETR and notice different things going on with different teams. I believe the weight class listed is a drop-down selection by the statistician entering the data. Most times it appears in preseason based on the weight presented at certification (and NOT the certified weights), but then again I've seen instances where I directly KNOW the weighin and that doesn't jive - the next weight down is listed (this is usually when it is close). I've also seen the weight class listings go UP during the season some times and some times not - probably whether the statistician decided to change the drop down selection. I believe if you go down in weight class during the season, it probably changes the weight class listed down because you have to select it.

Anyway, a lot of ramble to say that while you can perceive things from the track listed weights, you never really can be certain - sometimes it just might be an error, or it just might be different ways of entering things by different teams. The only way to know for sure is if you have access to the OPC.

The roster is also up on Gopsusports homepage. The weights there are as we expected.

Speaking of possible errors this tread got me curious, so I checked a few other rosters. Sam Stoll is listed at 165!

Thanks Dunk. I have to admit, seeing Morgan at HWT really grabbed my attention. Isn't Morgan on the short side of 197? I always thought he could go 185 if he wanted. Not now...o_O

Cassar injures his shoulder at worlds and disappears from the picture (and roster) entirely. What gives? I haven't seen a peep.

Cassar not wrestling with the team this year for personal reasons approved by Cael, but will workout with NLWC and stay enrolled.

Also he's having surgery this week (might have already had it).

I believe Morgan is a collegiate 197 but next year I see him at 86 KG!
