PSU V OSU resumes

Something that not many here are discussing is will the committee's decision influence the way the B1G chooses it's champion? If the committee takes OSU and leaves out a 2 loss champ, the B1G may consider changing their rankings to include total record instead of just conference record to ensure that the conference champ isn't left out in future years.

I think that would eliminate all quality OOC opponents in the future.
The answer is an expanded playoff. Conference champions must be in the picture. It's the only way to solve the "best" vs "most-deserving" riddle. As potentially painful as this will be for someone (likely us), it's this kind of pressure and pain that brings about meaningful change. If the committee finds themselves in an extremely uncomfortable position and enough controversy ensues it will be a good thing.

I agree, it would incentivize teams to schedule 3 creampuffs in an effort to win their conference. However the NCAA cannot tell the conferences what to do, don't some already rank their teams in this manner?

If PSU wins the B1G and both Washington and Clemson win, the decision the committee makes could have potentially big implications for future seasons. They will set a precedent that determines the perceived values of conference championships, strength of schedules, non-conference scheduling, conference ranking methodologies, head-to-head matchups, transitive property speculation, etc. Schools and conferences will adapt based on what the committee decides, which makes this important not only for this years playoff teams but for all of college football going forward.
