Heading to game this Sat vs NW. Are they still blaring the canned music and obnoxiously loud commercials during TOs to stop the Blue Band from playing? Is microphone cheerleader guy still doing his thing?
In short, yes to all. There are some TOs where the Blue Band plays and it's enjoyable. (Having both bands mic'd at Auburn was VERY enjoyable.) The mic'd cheerleader guy is only pregame, but there's a marketing mic guy now introducing some games during TOs or returning alums.Heading to game this Sat vs NW. FWIW, I sat in the south upper deck before the game to meet a friend. I thought her seats were good, but that noise up there made it ridiculous. We sat and watched some warmups, then watched the starting lineups video when I screamed to my son next to me that we were leaving to go to our seats.
For any AD reading this, YOU'RE DRIVING AWAY YOUR FANS!! IT MIGHT BE WHY THE UPPER DECKS ARE LIGHTLY POPULATED!!! (Sorry for yelling, hope I made the point.)
Also, a point of note: I had ample cell service at Jordan-Hare and no difficulty texting photos or following CFB scores on the web. This NEVER happens at the Beav. It's always a problem and I've pretty much given up sending texts or (gasp) a picture from the game. Something else PSU does poorly. And also, before anyone asks, I've not had any reception issues at Wisconsin, Michigan, tOSU, Buttgers or Maryland, Heinz for Steelers, the Linc, M&T, nor at Pirates, Phillies or Cubs games.
Chicken basket is not as good—something happened to it. And costs $14.
Auburn also ran free shuttles to and from the stadium. In short, yes to all. There are some TOs where the Blue Band plays and it's enjoyable. (Having both bands mic'd at Auburn was VERY enjoyable.) Try the new Farm to Stadium stand between gates C and D. Long wait, but good food.Chicken basket is not as good—something happened to it. And costs $14.
the texting issue is a big issue. When you are trying to meet up with friends it is a nightmare. There is almost zero communication and you can't hear yourself think if you call. I wonder if there is a risk if someone needs emergency services what the heck you are supposed to do.In short, yes to all. There are some TOs where the Blue Band plays and it's enjoyable. Even outside the stadium , let’s say you have an emergency, good luck.the texting issue is a big issue. When you are trying to meet up with friends it is a nightmare. Sometimes I swear the phones between the sidelines and the press box don't work well either.the texting issue is a big issue. When you are trying to meet up with friends it is a nightmare. I used to have cell issues but switched to T-Mobile and now have no issues in the stadiumIn short, yes to all. There are some TOs where the Blue Band plays and it's enjoyable. Easy solution: people should STOP paying for ridiculous prices for food and beer at sporting events. This is true everywhere....the Beav, Steeler games, Pirate games, Eagles games, etc. Let the food rot across the country at all events. It only occurs because people are stupid enough to pay $12 for a hot dog and fries, etc. Prices for beer is ridiculous. And truthfully, the food stinks.Chicken basket is not as good—something happened to it. And costs $14.

Couldn't agree more. I'd love to take my wife and daugher to a game but know the obnoxious noise level piped over the speakers would ruin the experience for them. It's too loud everywhere in the stadium. In short, yes to all. There are some TOs where the Blue Band plays and it's enjoyable. (Having both bands mic'd at Auburn was VERY enjoyable.) But that's what the young people want! TIC. As if they buy season tickets and have lots of NLC points. There is a middle ground here and unfortunately PSU has yet to find it.The artificial noise is what finally drove me to give up my season tickets. I realized I was spending thousands of dollars a year to attend an unenjoyable event. I sat next to the same guy for five years and we nevr spoke... because we couldn't.

You are comparing urban areas to a small town in the middle of nowhere PA surrounded by topology that is terrible for . Even Madison is 5 times more population then State College. The closes in population is Auburn which is still 50% larger than that State College. Cell phone companies aren't going to invest in the infrastructure needed for 7 days a year. Areas with higher population can deal with the increased capacity much easier. What they do at Penn State is bring in temporary cell towers that they set up on game day. While they are helpful they are not as efficient as towers. Also, a point of note: I had ample cell service at Jordan-Hare and no difficulty texting photos or following CFB scores on the web. While your argument is somewhat correct for cell service, you are not for wifi in stadium. Auburn's stadium had wifi emitters at the top of every section around the stadium. Beaver Stadium has far, far less and is much bigger. You are comparing urban areas to a small town in the middle of nowhere PA surrounded by topology that is terrible for .
