Wife, kids (2), and I are not bringing up the RV for this game, but are staying at the Nittany Lion Inn. We have never stayed there for a game, but have stayed there on other occasions.

Question:
1. Can you tailgate in the NLI parking lot?
2. Wife wants to know if they run shuttles or buses back and forth to the stadium? She is anticipating the kids will be cold and want to leave prior to the 4Q.
3. Anything else we should be aware of staying there for a game?

Any insight would be helpful.

I can't answer your question- but I have a question for you. Why aren't you bringing RV? Just curious, as I'm thinking about bringing mine, even though I've already winterized it. Temps don't look too low for the weekend to worry about freezing tanks, etc.

While there are a few spots in the parking lot in front of the NLI, primary parking for it is in the garage next door. The chances of you getting a parking spot in front of the hotel are too slim to consider it as an alternative. Also, even if tailgating in the garage is allowed there (and I doubt that it is), it wouldn't be very practical - there just no room for anything other than your car.

I don't know if the NLI has shuttles (Have you considered calling them? They ought to be able to give you an answer in seconds) but CATABus does run shuttles from the game to and from downtown (Schlow Library at Beaver and Allen). If walking from Schlow to the NLI is too far, you can always catch a cab from there). If you are going the CATAbus route though, buy a ticket and take it round trip (I'm not sure that they sell one-way tickets FROM the stadium).

Call the NL Inn. They will answer your questions concerning tailgating and transportation to the stadium.

They do run a shuttle bus from the NLI, you need to get passes at the front desk which are free for registered guests.....

I often see people tailgating in the lot at the Communication Sciences building, but they may have some special privilege. The lot for the NLI is pretty small and tends to be very busy.
