I cannot stand seeing on ESPN Auriemma's name listed with men's basketball coaches when listing titles won (or former coach Summit from Tennessee for that matter). There is so much more talent in the men's game, even when Wooden was coaching, in comparison to the woman's game that you cannot possibly put him in the same conversation with John Wooden or any other men's coach.

The woman's game is unwatchable - as Auriemma himself pointed out last week. Why? There is a serious lack of talent to go around. I believe one of the big reasons is the growing popularity of WVB. More tall talented female athletes are playing volleyball over basketball.

If Auriemma is to be judged against the best men's coaches he needs to coach in the men's division.

There is absolutely no comparison.

Auriemma is nothing more that a foul-mouthed salesman that has over time managed to tip the recruiting cart in favor of the UConn program. Although he has excelled at coaching in the women's game, he is far from establishing any real comparison to the Tom Izzos, Mike Krzyzewskis, Dean Smiths, or John Woodens of the men's game.

Heck, Auriemma can't even hold a candle to those coaches as a gentleman.

Auriemma said the women's game was unwatchable? He was highly critical of men's college basketball last week.

Yes, he followed up his comments on MBB by saying that his sport was even more un-watchable. Regardless - ESPN needs to stop comparing him to MBB coaching great John Wooden.

He has so much more talent than the other teams, it is ridiculous. Unlike

the men's game, talent is everything in the women's game. You hardly ever see an upset in the women's games. You see them all the time in the men's tournament.

What's Scary Is That They're ALWAYS So Fundamentally Sound!

I seldom see them play any more, but over the years the one constant is that they are ALWAYS in absolute control of their game. Very few poor passes or shots / very few bad turnovers / they always box out on rebounds / play great defense - seldom give up easy baskets.

From THAT perspective they're fun to watch.....but it's so rare they're challenged competitively, well, that's why I don't ever see them play any more.

Not sure that John Wooden would agree with you... From a purest standpoint ( and watch the Celtics of old) the way the womens game is played today... Is the way Basketball should be played...

This one on one isolation stuff... Boring.

I am not any big fan of GA, however, if he was the PSU head women's hoop coach and had won 10 NCAA championships, would we be complaining?

How is he any different that Russ Rose? Russ gets great talent.

Sanderson also gets great talent, although the 9.9 scholarships for 10 starting positions as compared to 14 scholarships for 5 starting positions makes GA and CS/hoops and wrestling an apple and orange type of comparison.

LOL - Most teams that win any type of championship have great talent.

His kids play hard, work the ball, play defense and are disciplined.

Four things that Coquese Washington has no clue about.

It is true that both Russ and Cael get way more talent than anyone else

But they are also great coaches and both are humble men. That's probably the difference.
