We posted about it on premium side the other day that talks were being had and Franklin knew.
Franklin is always looking for assistants even when he doesn’t need one. At coaching conferences and any other opportunity he talks to current coaches from other schools and keeps notes. He has lists for the various positions that are frequently brought up to date. The man is over prepared.
Judging by Coach Franklin’s comments at the Fiesta Bowl I’m guessing that Boise coach is in his notes.
Conner to LB coach yes please. Poindexter no please. The next DC has to be a big hire as they want to make another run at the championship. That is not a decision you want to go oops on. Plus, now they have the money to get a top guy. I view Poindexter as a career assistant coach but that's probably just me with that opinion.

I completely agree at this point. Obviously the collective is going all-in, so the university is going to have to go premium with this hire and land a 100% sure thing and not a newer DC that needs training wheels for a while.
They definitely have to get this right. They will make another run at the OSU guy but I don't see that happening. Have a note from a PS friend who said that Al Golden will absolutely be contacted as another one. Cant wait for the Hot Board to come out.
Interesting thing to consider with hiring a DC from another team:
Can they bring players with them to fill our expected gaps?
Who has a DT, Edge, and a Safety we could use to reload for our '25 run?

as a DC ie Golden..I'm ok with that...a Penn State guy and has experience..crazy but I think Notre dame has a real chance against Ohio State..because of their defense...
