It certainly doesn't look good. I thought if Allen left it'd be for a HC gig but him making a lateral move to Clemson after just one year at PSU makes Franklin look bad IMO.I am tired of the turnover. I dont think it helps a team.
It's inevitable if the team is goodI meant, How long before the new GM leaves for a new job?

I agree. Fact is, PSU's coaches have done more with less if you believe the recruiting sites. GA, AL, tOSU, ND, LSU, USC, TX,and Oregon all get better recruits year in and year out. You can probably add in and handful more. yet, there we are in or just outside the top ten every year. And despite our loss to ND, we actually outplayed them. Boise and SMU are quality teams that we just body-slammed. There was no doubt in those games. The coaches get a lot of credit for developing and scheming. It's part of success.
True of any DC who gets hiredThe biggest issue with hiring him as the DC is the first time CJF drops a game 30% or people will want Golden to replace him
No one was trying to have Allen take over this year. Golden is different because of his ties to Joe.True of any DC who gets hired
Exactly...cue up the nattering nabobs. No one was trying to have Allen take over this year. Golden is different because of his ties to Joe.
..and Golden's Head Coaching resume is far worse than Franklin's by any measure.Exactly...cue up the nattering nabobs.
LOL..true...but you also have to think Golden is only looking at a HC job next...As long as he's never a HC here I'm fine with that. Just an awful HC.

everyone leaves...its a money game..actually you can also look at the fact at where these Coaches are going ? Franklin..is leaving an impressive Coaching tree around the Country..or at least Penn State is...It certainly doesn't look good. I thought if Allen left it'd be for a HC gig but him making a lateral move to Clemson after just one year at PSU makes Franklin look bad IMO.
Thanks.Sure he's a Pittsburgh guy that was Minnesota's DC before last year. Maybe DC at Rutgers...at least coached there.
Runs a 4-3

Yeah I'd assume that but who knowsLOL..true...but you also have to think Golden is only looking at a HC job next...
Maybe...let's see what happens next weekWho from OSU and ND are leaving?
True but we can't be replacing coordinators at a near yearly clip. This time JF needs to find a younger guy that can stay put for at least a few years before getting a HC slot somewhere. I would have assumed he talked about how long Allen was looking to stay before hiring him but oh well...one and done...I actually wasn't much of a fan of Allen's anyway so I'll take it.everyone leaves...its a money game..actually you can also look at the fact at where these Coaches are going ? If we're somehow able to find an older more veteran coach who has already been a HC and is just looking to be a DC somewhere (and not have to deal with all the extra crap a HC has to do) for a few years before retiring I'd be thrilled to have them but they are like unicorns. Almost all of them have that little voice inside still seeking one more shot at a HC gig.Do you think younger is more likely to stay put? I do not.
I would prefer a veteran who is ready to settle down and then young energetic position coaches to recruit.
Do they usually make lateral moves? These ex HC types are typically a season or two max.
That's modern CFB.

Don't let the door hit you on the way out!Penn State Defensive Coordinator Tom Allen set to leave for Clemson
Penn State will have to look for a new Defensive Coordinator once again as Tom Allen is heading to Clemson.pennstate.rivals.com

I thought that Allen MIGHT be that guy but apparently he and CFJ didn't mesh very well.
Yep, they'll be working from home!!Having two men do the work of one. Must be a fellow government employee.
Does he live in the fire zone? Lose his house? Lots of them want out of town and out of state. No talk of D'Anton Lynn?
I'll volunteer. Won't even need to pay me.Can we send some guys in to "help" him "clean out" his office?
Do they usually make lateral moves?
Should be, but problem is he likely isn't going to be talking to anyone for another week.Should Al Golden be a consideration. Seems he's done a good job for quite a while.
In the beginning of camp last year, there were several weeks of Franklin referencing situations where “Coach Allen is very verbal and animated in his on field coaching….it’s hard to break the habit of being a head coach” . —Then he was moved from the field to the box after the second week of the season. Logical reason to do so, but it may have served a dual purpose. It certainly doesn't look good. I thought if Allen left it'd be for a HC gig but him making a lateral move to Clemson after just one year at PSU makes Franklin look bad IMO.
Interesting observation. Perhaps Allen never truly adjusted to not being a head coach. Once you are The Man it’s difficult to take a step back.In the beginning of camp last year, there were several weeks of Franklin referencing situations where “Coach Allen is very verbal and animated in his on field coaching….it’s hard to break the habit of being a head coach” . —Then he was moved from the field to the box after the second week of the season. True but he will be contacted, and I assume he is expecting that contact to happen be interesting to see how that plays out. I doubt he's the top choice, but I bet he's in the top three.Should be, but problem is he likely isn't going to be talking to anyone for another week.
