Jake Zembiec of Rochester is already considered New York's No. 1 prospect in the Class of 2016, the No. 8 quarterback in the country, according to Rivals.com, and the No. 231 overall recruit in the Rivals250. This week he earned another top honor.
On Sunday evening, the Penn State verbal commitment received a phone call from quarterback coach Trent Dilfer, informing him that he had earned the 18th and final invite to the Elite11 finals, a competition featuring some of the nation's best quarterbacks.
"Coach Dilfer called me and I was obviously really excited, especially to get called from him, the head guy, and to get invited like that," Zembiec said Tuesday. "Then they told me why I got invited, what they liked about me, what they wanted me to work on. I don't think I was really surprised because I did well that whole week (at the semifinal in Los Angeles) and I competed with some of the top guys in the country and couple guys who already had invites and I felt like I stacked up pretty good against them."
