Not looking to bash Pitt, but why would any player with a legit D1 offer choose to play football in front of a very week fan base or game crowd?

Maybe they suffer from Kenophobia and pitt offers an environment in which they can work to over come it.
Hopefully recruits and families are seeing the positive Franklin experience and all of the negative recruiting BS is a thing of the past.
I don't follow recruiting as closely as many here but my general impression over the years is that (for the most part) any big recruits that go to Pitt are those from the WPIAL. It's usually local Pittsburgh kids that just aren't about to move away from home.
They are pressured, HEAVILY HEAVILY pressured, by their families and friends, to stay at Pitt. Only the ones with strong character, and strong will, such as Miles, will come here to shine.
I believe Mr Wade is very similar to Miles: A strong character young man, who will make his own decision, and not cave in to pressure from the people around him who fear anything east of Monroeville, and south of Wheeling.
It's more complicated than just that. Many of the local HS coaches harbor serious grudges against PSU, and Pitt takes care of the big-time coaches. One of the big name coaches here always always always is wearing Pitt golf shirts. It's like the only thing he owns. Others are Pitt grads who refuse to even let our guys talk to their kids. They start indoctrinating against us when these kids are in middle school. It's a tough mountain to climb.
Some kids don't want the challenge of going away from home...so of course some local kids will stay home close to mom and dad. For me, I wanted to get away. Their home crowd is just lame...embarrasing.
