Most people generally accept the 247 Composite ranking as the "official" ranking of a recruit. YMMV.

I guess you could argue Nebraska. They've been a college football legend but have fallen on harder times recently.

It adjusts when the services adjust their rankings. So when Rivals, ESPN, Scout, or (obviously) 247 posts adjusted rankings, the composite rankings adjust too.

I tend to look at the star ratings like post-season All-American lists. Penn State considers a player as an "official" All American if he is named to at least ONE of the accepted services' first teams; he does not have to be a consensus pick to be listed among the school's historical AA selections.

Thus, I look at the 4 services that rate recruits and consider a recruit's highest star count as his rating. If somebody gets 4 stars from Scout but 3 from Rivals, he's a 4 star in my book. The Field Artillery "rounding" rule is (or, was when I was a young officer) to round to the even number. So if Jesse Luketa, for example, is rated a 3, 3, 4, and 3 = 3.25, I round the even # ... 4. Perfect!

Our staff is proving they can identify talent early on and develop that talent. I consider an offer from us and our coaching staff's rating the only one that matters. Other coaches are catching on by offering who Penn State offers.

As you know, recruit rankings are subjective. And I assume there is a follow the leader
affect among recruiting circles. In addition, we now have so called non committable
offers. I believe rankings are a good guideline but trust the coaches.

By the way, how is the rest of your recruiting coming? I'm sure the Douche will eventually land a 4star so don't give up hope! For the record, and your enjoyment, PSU now has 14 commits with Pitt offers while Pitt has 2 commits with with UNCOMMITABLE PSU offers. And that other kid had a UNCOMMITABLE OSU offer.
