Retherford is simply a BAD A$$!

I mean... when I wrestled... I wanted to set the tone from the very beginning that my opponent was in for a physical battle. Hard cross faces until my opponents face turned red from being pounded. Running chicken wings until your opponent cried out in pain to get the referee to stop the action before he was turned.

I broke a kids leg... it was only a compound fracture in one of my matches. Zain last night.. made me look like I was being "gentle" on my opponents. That was brutal to watch what he did to his opponent. No wonder the kid ran off the mat without shaking Zain's hand. He was BRUTALIZED... bent in ways a body shouldn't be bent. Zain's opponent got a colossal beat down!!! :)

wrestlers shouldn't purposefully try to injure their opponents, that's lame, and the best wrestlers don't do that - what goes around comes around.
I am going to assume he did not mean that he was trying to injure his opponent? He is talking about being physical, to the point where the opponent feels beat up and you get inside their head. I am pretty sure he is right about Zain having that mentality. Would you say that Zain is purposefully trying to hurt his opponents?

P.S.- Amalone I am sure you did not mean Only a Compound fracture, If I remember correctly isn't that when the bone breaks the skin. That would be a major injury and nothing to talk lightly about. Plus I would say being physical is awesome like Zain, not so awesome like Evans or Gilman (Another punk push in the back by him on sat) Physicality within the rules is great, extra curricular activities is not in my opinion.

Yeah, athletes like Dick Butkus should be kicked out of the sport!

You're absolutely correct. It's a mentality of being physically dominate... not purposely injuring your opponent.

The kid in question had a weakened bone condition and got his leg caught between mine and should not have been wrestling. As in never. I can almost assure you that was his last match. My coaches made me... and I don't know if this has ever been done in scholastic wrestling... go out and wrestle someone right away so I wasn't traumatized by the event.

I saw the push by Gilman and he's known for being mercurial. No need to push your opponent in the back. Use that aggression when you're facing him.

Nothing like being kind to your opponent. Mike was one of the most misunderstood athletes of all time!
