I journeyed to State College in July of 2012 to pay respects to my HS Coach, a man who taught me so much, Joe Sarra. As I returned home I listened to Mark Emmert bury PSU Football with unprecedented sanctions. At 62, I felt certain that I had seen the last of Penn State Football as I knew it. Tonight I am convinced that all the evil that has been done to PSU, JVP and others has not gone unnoticed by The Good Lord. So many individuals have brought this program back....the Mike Mauti's.BOB, and "The Great James Franklin." I can only hope that PSU opens its checkbook and keeps this staff together. I feel blessed to see such a great 5 weeks. One of the most impressive turnabouts that I can recall in sports history.

Well said. Many of us wondered if it was the end of the line as well.

At the time the scandal broke, there were three types of people at PSU:

1) Those who put academics first and believed in success with honor. Football was fun and it was awesome to watch a team that did everything right, academically and morally.

2) Those who were offended that anyone could possibly care about sports when there were more important things, like astrophysics discoveries, gender studies, and microaggressions to consider.

3) Those who truly cared about football above all and thought that Paterno was 15+ years past his prime. We're a business and need a winner above all.

Unfortunately, #2 and #3 equated to more people in power than #1, so PSU and Paterno never stood a chance. #2 and #3 got what they wanted at first, together....but quickly feuded and did even more damage to the university. It is SO GREAT to see those of us who belong to #1 see the team rise above it all and win with honor once again. Joe Paterno would be proud. So proud.
