Since being released from his NLI at George Mason i'm hearing that PSU, Cornell and Iowa are his top 3 choices. Anyone in here hearing anything?

If he walks on for books and ice cream

You think? I don't know for sure, but I would imagine that every coach (Cael included) keeps some money back in the case of guys opening up recruitment, or a transfer. Maybe not a ton, but something.

I don't think that's the issue. Unless I'm missing something, his credentials say George Mason. If he wants to take a shot at a PSU, Iowa, or Cornell, he's probably not going to be getting much money.

Gotcha now, okay. Thanks for clarification.

I think Verkleeren was a much higher caliber recruit and I'm not sure if he got anything ... but being in state definitely inherently helps (even though PSU isn't cheap by those standards either)

Books are expensive as hell and the Ice Cream is other worldly. That isn't a bad deal.

I've never been involved in the Iowa/PSU online message board pissing match. Grew up hating Okie State, and I'm still living in the past, but to insinuate that PSU can provide better ice cream than Iowa really pisses me off. So to quote Austin DeSanto - "I f*****ing hate you and I hope you die."

And thus this post, like the killing of Archduke Franz Ferdinand by Gavrilo Princip triggered the Great War, has triggered the Great Transcontinental Ice Cream War of 2019

Except that's something you inferred. He did not imply any such thing, despite it being established fact. (Sorry, too easy!)

BTW, we've had ice cream jokes around here for years, that have had nothing to do with Iowa. Such as when Geno Morelli transferred in, Cael sent him to Creamery Immersion Therapy to get all of the Pitt out of him.

Does the University of Iowa have anything analogous to The Creamery?

You'll go bat sh*t crazy once The Creamery's new flavor "Herky Jerky" arrives next fall. But when discussing it on your board I would suggest "tHerky Jerky" so we would be able to distinguish between the flavor or one of the HR faithful.

Creamery ice cream level: Presidential.

All right, someone has to pull out some of our big guns here, might as well be me.
  • Numerous US Presidents have raved over the Penn State Creamery (I count 4)
  • Ben & Jerry learned how to make ice cream from Penn State.
  • Bill Keeney, PSU invented the modern technique of ice-cream making that doesn't have the ice fragments you get in homemade ice cream.
It's damn good stuff too.

Archduke Ferdinand is not dead. He is living in South America and ironically lives in the same housing plan as the Anglin Brothers (formerly of Alcatraz), DB Cooper and Elvis (who has slowed down since his hip replacement but would be at the Creamery if they served Banana Peanutbutter).

Off season personal note - my Grandfather moved to America as a younger man from Austria Hungary. His mother talked him into returning home to work the collective farm owned by others. When he returned they they tossed him in the Army. I asked him if he ever saw Archduke Ferdinand and he said he did and the Arch Duke was a pompous ass riding around on his horse when he was reviewing the troops.

See JDad34's post above. Carver Hawkeye Arena plain vanilla ice cream cones are coveted the world over. Those Japanese wrestlers grew up in a country with giant monsters running around destroying their cities, and they were still in awe over the ice cream cones at CHA.

“Carver Hawkeye cones are coveted by people who’ve never been to State College” might not be your best argument.

Never let food tastes in Iowa discourage a visit, and simply nod and walk away when someone claims Casey's pizza (gas station) is the greatest or soft serve of any variety is high level ice cream. I have eaten a ton of both thus the fat body, but I recognize neither is particularly good. Carver cones are huge which makes up for the quality- go big or go home.

Lots of good ice cream around the Big Ten. Ice cream at CHA, visitors to PSU can hit Berkey, and at last year's Maryland Dual, they (Maryland Creamery) treated us to cones upon entering the arena before the dual, to name a few. All have been awesome in their own way...maybe something we can agree to :):).

If for some reason when in State College the creamery can not be done, Meyer's Dairy on south Atherton is a fantastic other choice for ice cream.

Seriously though, if all Iowa is bringing is some stadium vanilla soft serve then this is more like the Falklands than WW1. I haven't tasted it, but how good could it possibly be? What ingredient could make it better than the Creamery fare, heroin?

The facts are pretty simple.
1. PSU has several highly rated dairy cattle (more than any other institution) yet only produces ice cream 40% better than Iowa. Iowa does more with less.

2. Iowa cares more about these cows while PSU simply uses them to bolster ice cream production.

3.The USDA crackdown is coming. Some places (not PSU specifically) are using CEDs (cream enhancing drugs).

4. PSU never cared about ice cream until one decade ago.

5. Next year Iowa will produce better ice cream as better cows are coming. Plus PSU lost at least two all time great cows.

6.Iowa produces the best "light" ice cream in the world!

signed- MSU,Iron whatever, and of course Vodka.
