Sasso Commits To tOSU

Now the Hidlay kid is the current PA recruit that is a must get.
Penn State and Ohio State routinely getting the cream of the crop, while Iowa with an occasional Spencer Lee or Jacob Warner settles for what is left. As mentioned, things have certainly changed.
Pat Lugo will do ok at 149 until 2020 won't he?

I think you're reaching here. Many posts on HR referenced Va Tech and tOSU as Sasso's likely school choice. Sure, a couple fans were hopeful, but not enough that there's a story here.
No intent to suggest that the Iowa faithful were surprised or overly disappointed by Sasso's decision. I would think that not being on the final list of schools would be a pretty solid indicator.

Another stud off the board..........Another stud heading to Ohio State. Going to be quite the battle for years to come. Looking forward to watching it.

Certainly seems like it will be a two horse race for the foreseeable future.

Our friends at HR Report will likely have difficulty swallowing that fact.

It's funny how they constantly go after Cael over there, but Tan Tom is hauling in massive amounts of high end recruits. I know the Cael on the brain is strong with that group, but OSU isn't going away any time soon.

Tom Ryan was a Hawkeye... Cael was a Cyclone... Ryan hasn't won multiple national championships...

I dunno about Sasso. At times he looks like Conan the Barbarian out there, and at other times he seems to deflate and become human. I think he's improved over the years so his deflation events come fewer and fewer times. But there is a question mark about Sammy that a good college experience might wean him from. Don't know, but because of that he was a bit lower on my radar.
otoh, he sure looked tough at WNO. so who knows?

I agree with this which is why I wouldn’t have been upset if Ohio State missed on him

I think this year...barring injuries ....it is a two team race but next year Oklahoma State will add Fix, Gfeller and Joe Smith to their lineup. That will be a tough team. Iowa adds Lee, Warner, Murin, Costello and Cassioppi in the next 2 years. Arizona State is filling in their lineup nicely. Plus there are plenty of great recruits that haven't committed....including four of the top 15 for 2018. After this year there will be 4 or even 5 teams in the mix.....especially if a couple of those top recruits choose Iowa, Okie State or Az. State....those schools chances jump even higher. I think the top 4 or 5 will be much more tightly packed starting next year. Good for college wrestling.....especially with greater exposure on TV and on the internet. More great matches to watch :) Thanks to Flo, Track Wrestling and other sites streaming matches and big events like S32, WNO and others creating buzz and interest....I think it will continue to get better. Yeah!
