Saw Pitt playing for National Championship

From my point of view, yes. But then, my son was one of Pitt's coaches. They finished well above their ninth seed. I don't know why Penn State is a non-entity in this sport.

In Ultimate Frisbee the other night while flipping through the channels. It brought a smile to my face when they lost. Does that make Pitt a rival? Does that make me a bad person?
Ultimate Frisbee is "close enough" for the Spitters to declare another MNC, despite their losing.

Actual losses don't really count for Spitters. They tabulate them as "hypothetical wins against any opponent" and move on. If, on an accumulated basis, a delusional fan base does this enough times, they almost become "real".

How tall is Wanny's recruiting fence? It must be incredibly difficult for a talented recruit to scale such an obstacle, wouldn't you agree? ;)

Ultimate Frisbee gets larger crowds than Pitt football. Who knew??

So I was happy to see that Pitt's streak of never winning an NCAA national title continues... but then I found out that ultimate Frisbee is not affiliated with the NCAA.

They will award themselves a football national championship for getting there in ultimate frisbee

I think it's even gone professional--which is kinda opposite everything it once stood for.
I had a younger relative who was pretty involved in playing ultimate when he was in college - apparently the game has “grown up” quite a bit over the past few years. Some college ultimate frisbee clubs even raise money for scholarship endowments for their players and “recruit” a little bit, and you’re right about there being a professional type of league - though since college ultimate isn’t an NCAA sport, kids can play professionally while also playing in college.

Believe it or not, some high school kids pick their college based in part on the ultimate frisbee team. It’s certainly come quite a ways since tossing a frisbee on the hub lawn.
