Has anyone tried getting a yellow parking pass from scalpers? I end up needing one but trying to avoid $40 day of or $20 express mail on top of the $20 ticket through go psu. Thanks!

It is $60 day of this season. Buying by weekly deadline is only $22.50. It is not in place yet, however in a few seasons they will be taking steps to make sure they cannot be resold.

I'm sorry to go off on a tangent but it is parking related. Are you able to park in the downtown parking garage on game day, provided you get there early enough? What about street parking in town provided you're willing to walk?

You can park in a garage downtown. They do fill up on gameday.

Street parking downtown has meters so it isn't really an option because you won't be able to put more money while you are out at the stadium.

Usually a lot of yellow passes downtown and on street by Lettermans before you enter......

Actually many, if not most, of the downtown meters and lots are on Parkmobile, so you can update your parking remotely. That said, many of the spots have time limits which means you can't extend your time. You have to remember to start a new parking session when the old one expires.

HUB, Eisenhower and East Decks are $25 on campus day off, many of the lots west of Bigler are as well. Cheaper than downtown.

Been a few years but always parked downtown and paid the parking ticket that was there waiting for me when I got back. Almost always had a spot between the bookstore and The Corner.

Again been a few years but the parking ticket was never very much, no idea if they’ve jacked the $$$s up.

Thank you all! 60$$ to drive up and pay, then park in a pasture. I love all things Penn State, except the never ending drive to bleed their faithful.

Yeah okay butchie, driving into a field, and handing someone a 20 to park really messes with traffic flow.

From what I have been told, ICA actually prefers presales because it gives them a better idea of how many folks are coming with vehicles. I know last year the number of day-of yellow permit sales was much more than they expected, even with all of the yellow pass presales. They want to make it painful $ wise to not pre-purchase yellow passes.

In the case, they aren't trying to squeeze any more money out of you, they just want you to prepurchase. It may not seem like much but having to stop and hand over a $20, when multiplied by 1000s, really does mess with the flow of traffic. It may only take 10-15 seconds for you to hand over a $20, but if 100 guys in front of you do it, you're going to be spending another 10-15 minutes waiting in traffic

If PSU was truly only concerned about the "disturbance of traffic flow", why not set up some game day kiosks on the outskirts of town to sell game day parking passes at a reasonable price? There's always the occasional good reason that limit people from making this parking purchase in advance: fans get sick and transfer their tickets electronically to a family member, but are unable to do so with their parking pass; visiting team fans being unaware, etc.

You could also have lots that are "day of game only", where you cannot go down certain roads without a pass but have to break off early to park if you don't have one.

That, and the combination of arrogance, stupidity, and condescension in those moronic pleas - like the one you mention about “disturbing traffic flow”.

That extra $1,000,000 of tangential revenue per week ain’t gonna’ come down from a rain cloud.
And it surely isn’t gonna’ result from some super-genius strategery on the part of the AD braintrust.

There is only one plan of action in that toolbelt. :)

If the purpose of raising the day of game parking pass purchase was to make extra revenue, then they wouldn't be offering advance purchase parking at such a hugely discounted rate. Clearly, the objective is to get people to buy the passes early. If they don't make the penalty severe enough, people don't have any incentive to early purchase.

Hey, don't bring fact and common sense into this discussion. ;)

As you approach have $30 in your hand with an extra $10. I'm pretty confident if your persistent one of them will sell you a pass for $30 or $40. Don't just buy from the first guy in line if he won't go that low. They are getting them for $10 - $20 each. They're still making money. Tell them what you'll pay and if they say no start to move on. They don't like to lose a sale.

Any idea how this will work? Hopefully it won't make it even more difficult to share season tickets among a group of friends.

For night game we park off campus and walk so we can get out after the game. We usually sell our parking ticket to the scalpers for $10

They will be making yellow parking permits one entrance only so folks cannot park and go out and hand to friends or sell them. Should not impact tickets.

One entrance only? Ouch. Why not go around and ticket cars without one hanging from the mirror during the game instead? Seems easier. And more profitable.

I do not mean physically only one entrance. Permits will eventually be scanned like game tickets are, once it is scanned, cannot be re-scanned. Going through ticketing lots would not be easier or cheaper and many folks would not pay the ticket...so not necessarily more profitable. Once people get screwed once by buying a permit that someone knowingly has resold them even though they used it already, they probably won't be doing that again. So, more people in theory end up buying their permits from ICA, lots do not get too full with people reselling their yellow permits, and scalpers likely do not have as much success with selling parking permits.

Got it. This still sucks. Having the "pass lane" vs. the "cash lane" kept things moving. Now we'll all have to stop again to get scanned. They should just add EZPass lanes and call it a day.

I wouldn’t expect it anytime soon, as it’s something else to slow down the process of getting cars into the lots.

Last time I went without a parking pass I parked up by the Hills Plaza on South Atherton and took a bus in. Dropped off at the Jordan Center. I think it was $1.75 each way.

I had one on eBay for $20 for like a month and it sold on Tuesday. I seriously don’t know what the hell everyone was waiting for.

Street parking downtown has meters so it isn't really an option because you won't be able to put more money while you are out at the stadium.

They have electronic in some spots and also straight down University you should be able the park on those streets though it is limited and there are no meters
