I notice that PSU does not run many - if any at all - screen passes. I would think that SQ would be a great back for a screen pass. I also wonder if he would be more effective from a power I formation where he has a potential blocking back in front of him. Just my thoughts

Why would we want to get him on the edge or in space. Best to run between the tackles.

They spy him wherever he goes on the field. I suspect they would break up the pass and not fall for the screen. I'd rather see a quick lateral to get him out on the edge to try to use his speed to beat his man to the corner.

I agree that PSU should run more screen passes.

PSU doesn't have a fullback to put in the power I formation. They would have to use Robinson or a TE. I agree that they need to try something. I was surprised that we didn't see a new wrinkle yesterday after struggling in the red zone at Iowa and vs. Indy. It seems like the staff is satisfied with the play calls and is just focusing on better execution. They might be technically correct but if he players can't do it......

Another thought would be to flank him out with two other receivers on the bubble screen, then get the throw out to him, and see how he does with the two blockers vs. three defenders. This might also be a good formation to fake a bubble screen and let McSorely run, or a quick pass to the other side of the field.

Any play to #26 isn't going to fool anyone. We tried a shovel pass to him saturday. I think we are better off to fake it to him and hit #5 or #3 on a screen.

RPO doesn’t work with mediocre OL and QB who doesn’t threaten anybody with his running.
Run game would probably open up more with Stevens but OL would still hold it back.
Need 2 running threats or defeats the purpose.

It's a second half of season type of play.

#3 in space is a problem for the opposition.

While Stevens is faster and stronger, it's hard to argue with McSorely's abilities especially in the passing game. I fear Stevens has quick feet, and McSorely is at his best when flushed from the pocket. He hit 15 straight passes yetserday. I'll take it.

They set up several screen passes to Barkley on Sat. And 4-5 defenders crashed down on the LoS. Trace made the correct read and hit a wide open receiver on an out and easily converted first downs.

Need to see WR screens and TE delays against big blitzing teams. Agree there would be a spy on Barkley, but there are other ways to beat the blitz and stacked box

Dear God, you’re a savant!

I’ll bet Moorhead and Franklin have NEVER thought of that before. Please email coach immediately at JGF10@psu.edu.
