First off, a heads up that I can't provide any type of coverage on Saturday. I'll check the board a few times to see how PSU is doing, but I've got other commitments. To start things off in the right direction, I'm starting this thread Fri. night, and hope that many of you will provide coverage of the matches.

The PSU matches for Saturday morning as listed below.

Here's hoping it's a good day for PSU, at the Scuffle and at the TaxSlayer Bowl.

Obvious you mistakenly missed Nico at 125. Typed Zain.
Interesting two Pickett's alive in championship bracket.

ugh, that's bad. in my defense, the post was one of the more challenging I've made in some time. I got halfway thru figuring out tomorrow morning's matches, and keying them in, and the window closed on me. I then re-keyed in the entire post, and just as I hit the button to post it the computer went blank (battery ran out on the laptop). So I did the research a 3rd time, and was able to post it. I suspect my anger/frustration caused me to be a little sloppy. I have corrected the mistake you pointed out.

125
Nico looks sharp, a couple of first period takedowns and a rideout for a 1:32 riding time advantage after one.

Hale escapes to start second, then another Nico takedown. Nico lets Hale up, another takedown. Lets him up, another takedown. 10-4. Heading to the third with riding time assured.

Start neutral, Nico takedown, up 12-4. Lets him up, another takedown, 14-5. With riding time its a 15-5 final. Nico into the semis!

133
Conaway with a takedown, Jordan riding tough and amasses 1:58 in riding time.

Jordan takes down to start 2nd, up an out for an escape, 3-0. Period ends on their feet.

Start 3rd neutral. Jordan takedown, 5-0. Jordan working a tilt for 4 backpoints, 9-0, and we have injury time. WVU wrestler can't continue, Jordan gets an injury default.

141
Moss and Heil on the mat. Heil takedown, up 2-0. Moss, out for escape, another Heil takedown, 4-1. Moss escape, 4-2. Heil another takedown, 6-2. Period ends.

2nd, Heil escape 7-2. And the second period ends on their feet.

3rd period, Moss goes bottom and escapes, 7-3. Moss takedown, 7-5! Heil escapes and has an 8-5 lead and thats how it ends. Not a bad result for Kade.

149
Zain takedown and riding tough, up 2-0. Zain 1:58 of riding time and plenty of cranking on Fox's neck with the power half.

Zain with a takedown or reversal to go up 4-0. Zain taking down and letting up, builds lead to 11-3. Can't keep up with Nolf scoring like a madman.

Start of 3rd, Zain escapes 12-3. Takedown and escape 14-4. Takedown clinic is on, several more takedowns and escapes until the tech fall, 23-6. Wow!

157
Nolf shot, opponent spins behind for 2. Shot from way outside for Jason. Nolf escapes and takes Shakur down. Then Shakur escapes, 3-3. Nolf another takedown, 5-3. Shakur escape, Nolf another takedown, 7-3 end of one.

Start of second, too much action on both mats, somehow 9-5 Nolf. Nolf 4 nearfall, Shakur escape, 13-6. Another escape and takedown, 15-6.

Start of 3rd, Nolf takes down and escapes, 16-6. Takedown, 18-6. Missed the pin! Nolf into semis!

For the record, its next to impossible to do play by play with Retherford and Nolf going at the same time.

Kudos for evening giving that a try clucas! I could barely keep up in the Rider dual when only one of them was wrestling at a time!

Realbutto pins Chandler Rogers.

Ian Brown beats Luke Smith with slick last second takedown.

157
Missed most of this one...Beitz down 7-2 to JoJo Smith in the second. Second period ends 7-2.

Zach down to start 3rd. Escape, 7-3. Takedown Smith, 9-3. Escape for Beitz, 9-4. Takedown Smith, 11-4. With riding time, it ends 12-4 Smith.

Its going to be a good one if we have a Nolf/Smith final.

165
Morelli and Pickett, 0-0 through one.

Pickett goes down to start 2nd. Picket out for escape and 1-0 lead and thats how the period ends.

Morelli down to start 3rd. Morelli out for a 1-1 tie. We head to OT.

Morelli bulldozed and takedown in sudden victory. Pickett wins 3-1.

174
Nickal with a takedown in final :30 of 1st for a 2-0 lead.

Ottinger down to start 2nd and escapes, 2-1. Nickal called for stalling and the period ends on their feet. Still 2-1...Nickal in a dogfight with the 5 seed.

Nickal takedown in 3rd, 4-1. Ottinger escapes, 4-2. Nickal called for stalling again, 4-3 and thats how it ends. Ottinger is a tough customer, so good win for Bo.

Ottinger has Matt Brown's body type and that seemed to give Bo some trouble.

Morgan pins to semi finals.

Nolan Boyd of OK St gets pinned by Lorenzo Thomas of Penn.

197
Morgan with a quick takedown, up 2-0. Pickett escapes, another MM takedown. 4-1 lead with 2:32 riding time, heading to the 2nd.

MM starts down and reverses to a 6-1 lead. Nearfall for 4 more on tilt, 10-1. Another 4 pt. nearfall and a 14-1 lead. And there's the fall! MM into the semis!

Pickett worked Morelli over in Binghamton - much closer this time.

Rasheed Pinfall out of the gate!!! Hammond also winning.

Hammond up 4-0 in first. Missed beginning.

Same score through second. Hammond takes down in 3rd, escape and takedown for a 7-0 lead. Dominating ride and 3:34 in riding time gives Hammond an 8-0 major.

Rasheed...wow, over before it starts. Fall in :16 for Rasheed.

Wow. 165 is really a puzzle. Do you go with Rasheed's explosiveness and upside, knowing that it comes along with inexperience and mental lapses? Do you opt for Morelli, who beat Rasheed but does not, perhaps, have Rasheed's big scoring potential? Or Hammond, the veteran who could be steady and reliable?

How do they choose which wrestlers points count. Rasheed has 6.5 but Morellis 4.5 are counted in the team score? Or did they just not get around to fixing it yet?

Whichever wrestler scores the most points in the weight class counts. They just haven't fixed this yet.

Shakur all day

the morelli v pickett match or the Rasheed vs Massa match is a good demonstration in contrasting styles, risk tolerances, and faith in ones abilities. with Morelli you get steady. w Rasheed you get flash. both have their place I think.

Tough, tough, tough decision if a wrestle-off isnt the answer.

Hammond locks up a cradle from neutral and gets the first period pin over Bethea from UPenn!
Rasheed up! Takedown Rasheed and escape by Faust, 2-1. Slick ankle pick attempt by Rasheed but no takedown, period ends 2-1.

Rasheed down to start 2nd and gets a reversal for a 4-1 lead. Stall warning on Faust. Rasheed with a rideout and a 1:15 riding time advantage.

Faust goes down to start the 3rd. Faust with an escape and with Rasheed's riding time point it ends 5-2.

If Morelli and Hammond both win in the next round, they will face each other.

Based on past history (last season), the last description I would use for Hammond is "steady and reliable". He was very inconsistent and up and down, showing lots of offense at times but giving up way too many easy points. That said, in limited action this season, Hammond appears to be more consistent and is not making nearly as many silly mistakes. So maybe he is making some progress in that regard. But Morelli is probably the most consistent of the three.

To answer the question, Rasheed probably has the most upside of the three and also looks to be improving and getting a little more comfortable most every match. If I had to pick one, it would be Rasheed.

Kade Moss up...0-0 through 1st.

Moss on top to start 2nd. Gasca escapes, then Moss takedown, 2-1. Gasca escapes to 2-2 tie. They end on their feet. Tied heading to the 3rd.

Moss down to start 3rd. Moss escapes 3-2. Wild long scramble but no points and Moss wins!
