The Big Red Dog has been very good so far. Even more impressive that he's been so effective his first two starts. It took Trace about 4 or 5 games to really hit his stride.

Heisman favorite Shea Patterson from Michigan isn't in the Top 10 in the B1G.

One other thing I have to note....Greg Pickle on the Keystone Kickoff podcast said this preseason "Clifford isn't going to run for any 40+ yard runs like Trace used to". At the time, I thought, "How the f*ck do you know?" Took two games for him to be proven wrong, but he's used to that.

I mean let’s pump the brakes. I love Clifford and think he’s going to be great. But we also lead the b1g in cream puff schedule so far too, so let’s not annoint him the heisman yet

We've played the same type of teams as Michigan and Ohio State. And I didn't say anything about the Heisman. Just listed the stats.

Army and middle Tennessee
Florida Atlantic and Cincinnati

Both schedules are weak but they are better than the combo of buffalo and Idaho. Idaho Is by far the worst of all of those teams

This isn't true at least regarding Ohio State. Cincinnati is one of the top G5 teams and neither of them played an FCS team. Let's be honest with our assessments here.

I couldn't be happier with Clifford after the first couple minutes of the Idaho game when his nerves are obvious but Idaho/Buffalo is not "the same type of teams" as FAU/Cincinnati. MTSU/Army is honestly probably better too but that one is at least in the same ballpark.

Buffalo was 10-4 in the MAC and won the East division last year.

Is 2020 Clifford’s year?
This year could be clifford’s year. But to read anything into stats after Idaho and buffalo, lets take it easy. Throw in Pitt and Maryland then you can start to have a sense of what Sean is. While they aren’t top programs they ain’t Idaho. It’s like saying a RB is on pace to run for 1,000 yards in one single game after he rips off an 80 yard run on the opening play. Let’s relax

We're mostly middle aged men on a freakin' message board. What in the world does it hurt if we're excited about our new starting QB leading the league in passing efficiency after 2 games? Why do we need to pump the brakes? What is our optimism hurting? Get off your high horse before you fall.

Have to get excited about the QB, as there haven’t been many Who’s The Hottest polls lately.

Funny moment from the press conferences after the game. Clifford previously expressed a little good natured annoyance at reporters constantly asking him about Trace.

So Friermuth, sitting right next to Sean, said that Trace would have scored on that 58 yard run, just to give him the needle. LOL.

Saying "Clifford leads the Big Ten in passing efficiency" isn't a false claim.

Don't worry about it Judge, JusticeBarkley always seems to show up and fact check us PSU fans. I would just stop arguing with him - he is always right, at least in his own mind

The people who can find something to complain about in regards to this stat have to be closet Buckeyes.

Would you rather have Shea's stats?

Fact: "Clifford leads the Big Ten in passing efficiency"
False: "We've played the same type of teams as Michigan and Ohio State"...at least the Ohio State part

Sorry I'm not buying the BTN hype on Cincinnati. I don't care if they are coached by a former Buckeye. They beat nobody last year, and lost to Temple. They fattened up on a very soft schedule. The UCLA team they beat just lost to San Diego State at home, a team that barely beat an FCS team in week 1. The hype train on Clifford is no where near the one for Fields, who has done the equivalent with a better QB rating apparently.

It isn't BTN hype. ESPN also considered them top 3 with Boise State and UCF. I couldn't be happier with Clifford. Honestly. But our schedule isn't comparable to Ohio State. We played an FCS team. There isn't even a debate.

Everybody is guilty of pumping up the mid majors. They all have the same criteria. Play 1-2 good teams a year, and feast on what every P5 team considers cupcakes. Every so often, you get a Boise or a UCF who breaks loose on the big stage.

He’s a troll.

Well it's a damn good thing literally NOBODY has suggested the Heisman for Clifford.

Good Lord.

I haven't been on this board very long. Lifelong Penn State fan, but only recently got back onto the message board thing. What a tragic mistake that was, but too late now.

But......when I first started reading this site about a year or so ago, what really shocked me was how quickly virtually anything positive was doused with cold water. And it got me thinking. Who needs Penn State haters @ Pitt or Rutgers or Maryland when you have so many of our own ready to toss a piss-filled balloon on anything resembling a homer comment?

It's a PENN STATE board. How the hell does a mere statement of fact re: Clifford's passing efficiency generate this kind of breathless response to educate the unwashed masses?

It's a type of self-loathing that I can only assume occurs with every fan base. But we sure seem to have more than our fair share. I will never understand someone's motivation to spend so much time focusing on something that obviously brings them no joy. Really, if they weren't so annoying, I'd feel sorry for them. Because their lives must suck!

So many fans are like that from kids leagues up to their college and pro favorites. I don’t get it.
I hate to lose but realize my favorites don’t win every game. Last night I was concerned but realized it was early.
Second half adjustments were made and they played well. If you recall they beat App state in overtime and then should have beat OSU. It happens.
One fiesta bowl against Tennessee psu looked horrible for 2.5 quarters then reeled off 35 points in 8.5 minutes. Look at 48-14, psu was down 14-0 and it looked like Pitt was going to score again and go up 21-0.
Games don’t go perfectly from the start, but if you get the win, be happy and work to improve .

Yet, suburban liar on BTN three out the word (heisman, that is) following fields replays. I look for that to happen quite often allllll seeeeeeason long.

You are the one who is debating SOS. The post was on the fact that Clifford has the best QBR in the B10 right now. That is a fact. You can spin it however you want. Another fact, Buffalo beat Temple last year, something Cincinnati couldn't do.
