Curious if anyone can provide recs for the USC game as to where the best seat areas might be? Would prefer to be higher up where the seats have backs. One of my sons lives in Hollywood so this should be a fun trip.

Have an awesome time and of course bring home a Lion victory :) I would Love to be at that one as well, but I am excited to get back to the Beav for the UCLA game.

I know it is an old stadium so not sure where the seats with backs are. Also, not sure what you are willing to pay for tickets.

What I would do is find out where the Penn State section is. That should be near our sideline in one of the corners but not positive about that. You could opt for that and sit high up. But not sure about seat backs.

If that option does not strike your fancy then you could look at seating between the 20s high up behind our sidelines.

Third option and less expensive would be looking at high up seats between the goal line and say 10 yard line behind our sidelines.

For me, I do not like sitting with fans of opposing teams. Just annoys me. Really annoys me when I'm at a home game and this happens. I like being with other Penn State fans.

Just a word of caution- after the Coliseum reno a few years ago they brought the press box down into the seating bowl. It looks like there are seats on either side of the press box that will have significant obstructed views (even blocking out much of the field from the 20s to the end zone IIRC). I don’t know if USC sells those seats or not for games.

This appears to be the visitor section at the coliseum, (sections 201, 202, 301, 302). The Olympic torch is off to the left. That’s the USC band at the bottom so be prepared to hear that same song played over and over. ;)

this looks like it faces east and west with the East side being the famous white entrance. if so, for a noon game, as the game concludes that sun will be at your back if you sit in the west endzone. The South would be the shadiest with the north being in the sun looking back into the sun a bit.

One of my sons got a couple tickets for us off an app. I looked at what was available and we chose seats that are higher up on the USC side. Paid about $250 each. Similar tickets were $500 each over on the Penn State side. What is the vibe like outside of the stadium? Any recommendations on bars that Philadelphia Eagles fans attend on Sundays near Hollywood?

The stadium is “historic.” Seats in the open endzone are a mile away from the field. Interior corridors are tight - like Fenway/Wrigley tight. Expect a slow entrance. Visitor seats will suck, but you’ll be with friendlies. I prefer to be among the opponent’s fans.

Check out the LA Chapter page for some tailgate options.

Vibe outside is not like State College. Weird tailgate rules don’t allow you to park and tailgate. You apply for a permit and get a tented area to set up your stuff.

How many of our fans do you think will be in attendance? 10,000, more? Strong alumni base in So Cal.

We're on the USC side in Sec 319. Higher is always better when you're closer to an end zone. I'm pretty sure we paid $150 for our seats.

Too bad there have been very few UCLA fans that have stopped by this week. They’d have all the insight into seating at the coliseum.

Plenty of options, but Downtown LA, Santa Monica, or the LAX depending on what you want. DTLA is close with some PSU activities. Santa Monica is a little further, but with PSU activities including a bus transport ($) to the game. Airport is further but cheaper hotels and no PSU activities.

I’m flying out Thursday and returning Tuesday morning. Staying at the London in West Hollywood. Looking forward to spending some time up in the mountains, Malibu, getting good Mexican and street food with my son. Love having him drive me around out there.
