Sorry, man, it wasn't intended as a diss to Hall, who went a tidy 1-2-2 in his three NCAA tourneys. I just thought the Bassett to Bartlett comparison was way off the mark.
But, yeah, maybe not my best work.
Haha, it's all good.

To be honest, I compared Hall to Bassett yesterday in the sense that Hall came to college fully developed but wasn’t able to jump another level. Shoutout to Jon for doing more homework than me. I don’t think Starocci meets any criteria here.Yeah, the slow mo with the clock definitely makes it a little more 50-50 to me.
I agree, not a TD per the strict criteria. Needed another point of contact. The official rulebook has an example for this exact situation, in bold below. Would have needed Dake's back less than 90 degrees and at least one hand/elbow down. Whether it should be a TD is another question; Starocci's position is pretty much in control, but freestyle is weird.Shoutout to Jon for doing more homework than me. He’s not behind, Dake doesn’t expose, and Dake isn’t thrown into a prone or lateral position.
Won’t be popular on here and I think the UWW criteria is lacking, but I feel confident they got this right according to the rules. Definitely one position where folkstyle takedown criteria is better than freestyle.
You're saying he's just a fan of the sport? There are some here who show weakness and feel bad for js because he's a Hawk fan. Not me tho, I consider him becoming a fan of anyone from any school who competes against PSU guys as the great equalizer between us.
True.... he still loses, but not quite as bad.
I think with 6 seconds showing the actual time would be between 5.01 and 5.99...This may sound non-sensical, but I am seriously asking. When a countdown clock shows only seconds and not tenths or hundredths of a second, does the clock switch, for example, to 6 at 6.0 seconds or 6.99 seconds? I did find this explanation online:
When it says 00:05, what it really means, is that the time is in range of 00:05:99 - 00.05:00
When it says 00:00, what it really means, is that the time is in range of 00:00:99 - 00.00:00
So, if this is correct, in the video above showing the last six seconds of the match, you could have started the countdown to the end of the match anywhere between 6.00 seconds and 6.99 seconds. I am assuming the official clock they use at the mat goes to hundredths of a second, but I don't know that for sure.
PJ wins, that’s 3 NLWC wins over Flo’s Golden Child huh?My biggest worry about Final X is obviously the concern over Yianni and his level of actual effort vs PSU/NLWC guys. Imagine my disappointment when the last time an NLWC guy beat him, we were all informed on this board that Yianni wasn't actually trying.
It was a hard thing to accept, realizing his huge win over Yianni meant nothing because Yianni wasn't trying. I think it actually happened again but this time Yianni had bumped his head, which once again rendered him impossible of trying to win the match.
I sincerely hope that Yianni will try this time, it would be most unfortunate to celebrate a PJ win, only to learn that once again, Yianni just wasn't trying. 😂
Mason is absolutely beside himself that the scoreboard permits more than 2 points.Poor Mike Grey and Mason Beckman: Carter finally loses, to a Cornell guy, and they can't even celebrate that because he is more of a Penn State guy now. 😂
Only if he is trying. Remember, the first two don't count because he just wasn't trying. 😂PJ wins, that’s 3 NLWC wins over Flo’s Golden Child huh?

You just described Mark Hall.
I can maybe get your point about Bassett (though may not fully agree with it), but the comparison to Bartlett is not a good one. Bartlett went DNP-3-2-3 at NCAAs. That's pretty good, but Bassett is college ready right now and looks to have a floor of 4X high AA, easily. He's probably as good as Bartlett (or darn close to it) right now, though 5.5 years younger than Bartlett, and for sure has realistic potential to a multiple NCAA champ. Bassett also seem likely to create a lot more carnage along the way than Bartlett did.
65kg Semi-Final - Brock Hardy vs. Bo Bassett
Period 1:
Bassett presses forward, bu Hardy fights him off & they work back to center. Bassett presses forward again, but doesn't threaten & Hardy circles back to center. Hardy snaps, gets a leg in & finishes the TD, 2-0, no turns. Back to neutral. Bassett shoots & gets a leg. Hardy locks through the crotch. Bassett keeps working forward, but it's a stalemate. Back to neutral. Bassett snaps, then drops to a leg & drives Hardy out, 2-1, restart. Circling, hand fighting & tying up. Hardy shoots, Bassett counters & tries to come behind. Hardy locks around the waist. Bassett switches to a double, but it's a stalemate, restart. Tying up & circling in the center. Bassett pushes forward & has Hardy on the edge. Bassett shoots & they go out of bounds, step out point Bassett, 2-2, adv. Hardy after the 1st.
Period 2:
Back to action. Circling & tying up. Bassett drops in on a low shot. Hardy counters & gets 2 exposure, 4-2. They keep scrambling & Hardy adds another exposure, 6-2. Stoppage & restart. Circling & tying up. Bassett drops to a leg, but Hardy exposes him, 8-2. Bassett gets a reversal, 8-3. Stoppage & restart. Bassett hits a head outside single. Hardy flips him over for 2 more, 10-3. Stoppage & restart, 90-sec left. Bassett pushes forward. He slips & Hardy gets to his leg. Bassett locks around the waist. Hardy keeps coming & gets another TD, 12-3, 1-min left. Hardy has dominated the period, so far. Stoppage & restart. Bassett comes forward looking for an opening. He takes Hardy to the edge & drops to a leg, but only gets a step out point, 12-4, restart. Bassett comes forward again & shoots, Hardy counters. Bassett recounters & gets the TD, 12-6, restart. Bassett presses forward off the whistle & gets another step out point, 12-7. Time quickly expires after that.
Brock Hardy DEC Bo Bassett 12-7
Somewhere, in some basement; Nomad will be shouting to the heavensPJ wins, that’s 3 NLWC wins over Flo’s Golden Child huh?
I don't disagree with your post all, and I wasn't dissing Hall. He had a great career. It's just a perception I have that maybe is caused by a lack of finality his senior year. I look at Hall and see one title but as you say, he was one guy and covid away from potentially being a 4 timer. His true freshman year, he lost to Brucki, Meyer and Bo Jordan. He avenged the loss to Bo to win the championship.
His sophomore year, he went undefeated until losing to Valencia in the championship.
His junior year, he beat Valencia in the dual going undefeated again going into the championship where he lost again to Valencia.
His senior year, he lost to Kem in the dual and beat him in the Big championship going into the tourney as the favorite to win the championship.
He had 3 losses his championship year and 3 losses total in his last 3 seasons.
It's hard to "jump levels" when you when the championship as a freshman, but I would argue that he most definitely improved from high school to his freshman to his later years.
Could you imagine Hall losing to Brucki or Meyer in his sophomore+ years?
Exactly right. Nick wins 65kg if he didn’t get injured.Too bad Nick wasn't able to compete.
And that is said with 0.000% bias. 😉Exactly right. Nick wins 65kg if he didn’t get injured.
The fun thing is, when @Hoosier Lion says something positive about Nick, he almost always ends up being right. And that is said with 0.000% bias. 😉
Yeah, I’m just foolin’ w/ Hoosier. Looking back, it’s been fun to see the statements made with conviction about Nick over the years, now continuing years after Nick’s graduation, and probably through Nick’s future coaching career (if I had to guess). The consistency makes me smile. The fun thing is, when @Hoosier Lion says something positive about Nick, he almost always ends up being right.
This post is almost as bad as the "Holy crap!" posts during tournaments. Link? Context? Anything?Beau has been married, what 3 weeks? His new bride throwing some shade at Carter on Instagram. Good luck with that Beau.
Because now the wife will charge $160 for every bedroom act? 🤪 (Too soon?)

It was a graphic of Dake beating Carter and she said there is nothing better than when the good guy wins. Pronouns in bio girl so who cares. May be as simple as Carter telling Beau he’s just not a killer out there and that’s why the big matches always slip away.Beau has been married, what 3 weeks? Ah. Thanks.I don't have Instagram. My daughter sent me a screen shot.
Bash posted the dake over carter score and she reposted and added "nothing makes me happier in wrestling then when the good guy wins"

What a weekend for the boys! Especially given some of the recent news headlines, even the Bo fight somehow felt like a slap to the fan base. But while other teams look for any reason to make a highlight reel, this train keeps on moving along.
He is my early pick for 2nd at 165 next yearJoey Blaze takes 3rd as well taking out Quincy Monday. Blaze has really jumped levels these last few months
So true. When they wrestled in the dual and Zahid did not have the recovery time after a weigh-in, Mark handled him decisively. It’s the one running “joke” that I never understood people saying it getting shot down: Zahid was clearly 10 pounds heavier every time they wrestled. You could see it.
We found out later that creatine wasn’t the only powdery substance he was using, which helped him I’m sure.
Exactly! So true. When they wrestled in the dual and Zahid did not have the recovery time after a weigh-in, Mark handled him decisively.
Recovery time? Or 5 minutes alone? So true. When they wrestled in the dual and Zahid did not have the recovery time after a weigh-in, Mark handled him decisively.
Who needed Ozempic when a bump was handy to get you through that weight cut.Recovery time? Or 5 minutes alone?
