ServPro First Responder Bowl cancelled due to weather

Imagine being a fan and planning a trip just to have the game cancelled after 1.5 hours. They still played the PSU/Mich St game after a 3.5 hour delay...
maybe they have insurance, and ticket sales weren't looking profitable? just a guess
Probably the people that wasted money to attend the bowl. Wonder if they'll be reimbursed for the tickets at least.

They started the game. BC was up 7-0 over Boise State in the first quarter. I was going to kill some time at work watching it but...

I'm curious. Why does anyone care if there are lots of bowl games? How does it affect your life? The players clearly want to be there and for many it's the last game they'll ever play. So what's the issue? Personally, I'd rather watch a bad bowl game than any NBA game.
It doesn’t. But there are some people who feel their opinion is fact.
I mean I would be pretty pissed if they cancelled the Citrus Bowl after a rain delay next Tuesday while I already spent all that money on airfare, hotel, etc.
Especially after the First Responder Bowl spokesperson stated that ticket are non-refundable
Is that for all bowl games, or just the non-playoff, non-NY6 or ones Penn State isn’t playing in?
Curious if me flying from Detroit to Phoenix last year with my son spending a night is not a smart thing to do.

I've just really never gotten why I hear it every year. Hell I love the games. The more the merrier. Don't like don't watch. We just put a huge list of Netflix shows up. Lol

I agree with the NBA comment. Hell, I'd watch a HS girl basketball game first.
To your main point, some of us believe the bowl system is antiquated and preventing us from having an actual playoff. The only way we get the true playoff is if people stop attending and watching the bowl games. I'm guilty of watching them as well. I take partial responsibility but I'd never pay to attend a bowl game that wasn't part of the playoff at this point.
But wasn't that the same argument used before the 4 team playoff? Expand to 8, pick the 4 bowls and be done with it. These lower tiers won't affect anything. Yes it's about control of money, but that was also the case before.
8 doesn't work either. Anything less than a 16 team playoff including all conference winners is a joke. And it should be 24 like FCS. See every other level of college football. The bowls have to die in order for this to happen. Sadly, at this point, I'm rooting for every single player that plans on entering the draft to sit out because maybe then people will stop caring.
Also, we need the bowls to die because the playoffs should be held at the higher seed until the final. This whole "Alabama vs Oklahoma" at a neutral site is insane. Alabama earned the right to host that game.
A good point. There are hundreds of TV options so if you don't want to watch a bowl, do what I do. Turn on the Hallmark Channel to schmaltzy Christmas movie with a predictable ending and cry your eyes out.

I think opinions are probably all over the map
-older fans remember when going to a bowl was special, because there weren't many and it was a real reward for success
-many fans want a real playoff, and may feel the bowl system stands in the way- which it kind of does, I guess
-some people just like to have something to be unhappy about
-and some may be "all of the above"
with so many channels available today, I can always find something uninteresting to watch

You are correct which we should recognize is unfortunate. We're just delaying the inevitable.
It will grow as fast as they see the $$$'s grow...bottom line it's a semi-pro cash cow. People just don't want to admit to it.
Agreed. It's been that way for a while. I'm won't be shocked at all if we see massive changes in about 5 years for that very reason. I don't think FBS is going to look anything like it currently does 10 years from now.
