Short Profile on Iowa Hawkeye legend Lincoln McIlravy!!! (FREE VIDEO)

At the 4 minute mark you state that Mcllravy was the first ever true freshman to win an NCAA title, You need to do a bit more research as there were quite a few true freshmen to top the podium before the the young fellow from South Dakota

If you are gonna push wrestling videos to wrestling fans, get those facts straight

I'm pretty sure that the first true freshman to win an NCAA title was Don Rohn from Clarion in 1973. (a PA homeboy too!)

Ok, help me out here. My recollection is that freshmen were not allowed to compete at the big schools until some time between 1969-1972. I don't remember exactly what year the rule changed. Rohn won in 1973 which is why I always assumed that he was the first true freshman NCAA champion. Who won before him?

There was a short time after WW2 when freshmen could compete. 4 freshmen won in 47. The first in the era you are referring to was Pat Milkovich of Michigan State

I also looked into Pat Smith who won his freshman year, then red-shirted his junior year. Thanks for the heads up!

Milkovich came from a wrestling family. Brother Tom was a multi-year AA at Michigan State and brother Mike was an AA at Kent State. Their father was the coach at Maple Heights, OH back when Maple Heights was the top high school wrestling program in OH.
