SIAP but any update on the health of AntKnee???

If @PSUNATTY2020 is in here posting, our RWFC (Rivals Wrestling Forum Championship) hopes are over.

No disrespect there -- @PSUNATTY2020 is a newbie and needs a year to learn the ropes here.

This^^^posters even need redshirt years to transition from the McAndrew Forum to the wrestling , the football board is full of trash daily. I think with good coaching PSUNatty can improve his mat wrestling

But @Hotshoe can’t coach them up like they do on HR. We need to be recruiting top 10 post for post guys that can compete from day 1 without coaching.

Other than Natty Bo I still haven;t seen anyone confirm that Byers said Cassar was done for the season on his podcast. If he didn't say that then I would say we have KK or a troll similar to KK.

Agreed. Just a bunch of internet hearsay.

I'm calling BS on this non-story.

If Byers had said this on the podcast, here is an incomplete list of things that would've happened:
1. Someone would've posted a link to the podcast and transcribed Byers' exact words here.
2. PennLive would've promoted the hell out of it to drive up subscribers.
3. There would've been dozens of non-paywall articles about Cassar being done. Every member of wrestling media, plus Pennsylvania sports media, would've been all over it.
4. More articles speculating about Cassar potentially taking the 7th year.
5. PSU would've had to (voluntarily or dragged along) officially confirm -- at the very least a press release.

Since zero of these things happened, and knowing Byers will never say anything he isn't authorized to say, I'm concluding he didn't say it.

Prove me wrong.

I'm with Jefe, Byers confirming a season ending injury would be super out of character for him. Not saying its false but Byers seems like an extremely unlikely source.

This all makes sense to me!

People love to be the 1st to put information out there and do not bother to verify sources. If this had legs it would be running rampant thru the wrestling world. Certainly Flo would have some mention of it.

I listened to podcast #8 and Byers stated that he had no inside information about Cassar, and had not been in contact with the team for a couple of weeks. He then speculated that Cassar MAY BE done for the year, based on watching the US Open clip. Byers thought the shoulder MAY HAVE popped out.

He also said there will be a wrestle off at 197 when and if both wrestlers are healthy. Also there are still questions about 125 and 149. Both weights may no be settled yet.

There is a troll or two in this thread spreading false rumors.

Also the usual Penn State Pessimism, must run with the worst case scenario simply because it's the worst case.

Chicken Little has been strong on this one.

Shelled out the $5 to hear it.

Here's the quote, at 10:25 on the podcast:
...maybe Heavyweight with Anthony Cassar, again, ... I don't have any new information on that, but just from what we heard initially, I'll be very surprised if he'd be able to compete this year with the injury he suffered at the US Open...

For what it's worth--maybe what he heard initially was a worst case assumption that has since changed. Time will tell all. Well, not all, but what we want to know at least (if he can go). Jeff is operating under the (qualified by lack of recency on his info) assumption that AC's year is done though--that is clear.

Also says Seth is most likely to slide into the slot--low AA a reasonable expectation for him. No mention of D(G)K.

I agree I hope he wins another title and I'll come back to this thread hunting someone lol

The claim had me thinking, but for sure Byers does not seem like the kind of guy that would 'out' injury news.

Eventually we will either here something official from Anthony himself, Cael, or make an inference by what happens when we take the mat later this month.

If "Hoopes" goes on the 10th there is definitely "hopes"

I would think if Cassar was definitively done for the season there would have been an official statement about it by now. If he is done there is nothing to hide.

What you're saying is logical, but it is not the way Cael has managed disseminating information about injuries thus far.

This thread feels like dejavu. Feel like we've went through something similar before.

That being said I sure hope hes able to come back. Hell of a nice guy! My wife's favorite PSU guy

I'm getting to the point in search of any tidbit of Intel on Anthony, to fund and have the boss of Boalsburg take Cael out for an impromptu Primanti's Almost Famous sandwich and get just the facts ma'am!

So you are saying if she sees him wrestle....you win.

The ability to identify what gets the girl going is an absolute must....well done Sir. Hope you don’t need a backup plan. :)
