I thought it was a good article. Matt Hayes is not putting him on the "hot seat". He is commenting on the perception out there that he is and how ridiculous it is.It is laughable that "writers" like this actually think CJF is on "the hot seat"
nobody in their right mind believes that, only the looney birds

Well right now both Pitt and MSU are at Woodland Hills today. .
Why are we spending all this money if Franklin can't convince coaches and recruits that good years are ahead of us.
That article includes a bit of truth and a lot of BS. It's true that Franklin walked in to the worst of the sanctions, but...
Franklin should feel the pressure. If you're a top 10 franchise with top 10-20 facilities, a top 10 fan base, and a top 10 paid staff you ought to be able to get your team back into the top 25. It's Franklin's job to hire good assistants and to recruit good players. Why are we spending all this money if Franklin can't convince coaches and recruits that good years are ahead of us.
- Of course there are high expectations. But the "high" expectations were to win 8 games by beating teams like Temple, NW, Maryland, and Ill. Nobody expected PSU to beat the top tier teams during the first few years.
- Of course there is a lot of pressure. Don't you think Brady Hoke was under a lot of pressure at Michigan? Or Richt at Georgia? Doesn't a lot of pressure automatically come with a $4.8 million salary?
- Only one outright B1G title since 1993 and an average W/L record of 8 wins is incredibly misleading. PSU won the B1G based on head to head wins in both 2005 and 2009. The early part of the decade had some tough years but from 2005-2011 (until Joe's firing) the team averaged 10 wins. So while the author is technically correct he went out of his way to put a negative spin on things.
- The circumstances are still dire at PSU? Why? Sanctions are gone and our last 3 recruiting classes will have been ranked 24th, 15th, and hopefully 15th again. 2016 might bring some struggles but 2017 is setting up really nice at this point.
when was the last time we had a top ten finish ?That article includes a bit of truth and a lot of BS. It's true that Franklin walked in to the worst of the sanctions, but...

3rd in 2005when was the last time we had a top ten finish ?
Why are WE spending this money? You are paying JF?
Newsflash.....Miles Sanders had a bowel movement this AM and no PSU Football Coach was there to wipe his ass! How can that happen considering what we pay them?
What a silly thing to post. I realize that we're going to win some an lose some when it comes to recruiting. I never said anything about a particular recruit. But in the aggregate, a coach's recruiting and W/L record should be commensurate with his salary. Why would anybody disagree with this?
P.S. We are absolutely paying CJF's salary. How much do you spend to take your family to a PSU football game? Where do you think that money goes?
so we're no longer a top ten program3rd in 2005
8th in 2008
9th in 2009
Its just another media guy setting up the plot...PSU fans want nobody to succeed but Joe Paterno...we are stuck in the past blah blah as if we never criticized Joe when he was coach.
Its old and tiring and non PSU people actually believe this crap.
I came across this and hope it provides some proper perspective.
