Michigan paid UCLA big money to get out of a home and home in 22 and 23. In their place... get ready for it......home games in AA with Hawaii and East Carolina. Now tell me again why PSU should be scheduling tougher opponents??? Unless you are in the SEC or Clemson, one loss takes you out of the four team CFP.

Isn't there talk of Notre Dame and Michigan continuing to play each other, every year moving foward?

Every season has had at least one team outside of your criteria...

So if Alabama and PSU are 11-1 each, you think PSU makes the CFP. The same with Clemson and PSU. My point was Teams are making their schedules easier not harder because strength of schedule means nothing to the Selection Committee. Its regional bias and 'the looks" test.

I wonder if Harbaugh had any input although it doesn't matter since he'll be gone by then anyway.

Penn State at 11-1 and a good non-conference win is a lot more likely to make it than Penn St and three cupcakes.

A year like this year, an 11-1 PSU squad would have a good chance to make it over an 11-1 Clemson team (more likely scenario is 12-1 PSU vs 12-1 Clemson).

Thru 5 years (or whatever it’s been), what are these examples of “regional bias”? They seem to give a bias to the best teams.

Hawaii and East Carolina vs. UCLA twice.

The schedule is softened only because they gain an extra game in The Big (Out)House, not because of the quality of the competition.

Of course, who knows who will be good next year, let alone a few years down-the-road.

Jimmy probably just got confused, thought CJF would be going to UCLA, not USC, and wanted no part of him.

yup,

you have to realize college football is entertainment. Those that tell us who are the best teams probably couldn’t make the junior high squad.

Except Herbstreit played QB for THE Ohio State University.

You’re certainly right when it comes to Heather Dinich though.

Which always reminds me of a favorite joke "How many batteries does it take to beat mcchicken? - One double A"
I heard it a different way, a guys car broke down and he was going to walk for help but the woods might be dangerous so his wife told him to take a battery with him .. confused the man asked a battery? Too the wives reply it only takes 1 double a to stop a wolverine.

I think it's a virtual lock that a ND/U-M series for 2022/2023 gets announced tomorrow, prior to the game.

It's just WAY too much of a coincidence for U-M to be announcing this, literally the day before the last currently scheduled U-M/ND game.

If this gets announced - you'll have to give ND some credit. They will have ALL of Ohio State, Michigan, Clemson and USC scheduled in 2022.

Slightly off topic but Alabama’s OOC schedule has more cupcakes then my local bakery .. how do they get away with playing Mercer!?

Is Appalachian state tough?
What does that have to do with anything?

Clearly the dude who posted this is another in a long line of Penn State fans with a raging hard on for all things Michigan. So he took the cancellation of the series to automatically mean that they will now schedule a cupcake, in spite of the fact there could be a number of reasons. But in reality UCLA sucks, and will probably have yet another new coach by the time those games roll around anyway. Frankly I think the Big 10 is tough enough, and that running the table is, and should be, enough to make the playoffs. So I don't really give a shit if we play anybody with a pulse out of conference within the current state of affairs.

But realistically Penn State football is not going to win a National Championship within the constraints of the current NCAA model.

Based on your last paragraph, no wonder your like count isn't higher.

Have watched UCLA several times this year, not so certain they are better than either Hawaii or ECU.

If psu loses tomorrow but beats everyone else then beats Wisconsin in champ game they are in

Definitely. The interesting question to me is what would happen to PSU if they go 11-1 with the only loss at OSU...

Um would have to beat OSU for psu to get into championship game so probably rose bowl

Committee has demonstrated that you don’t need to go to the conference championship game to get into the CFP...

What are you drinking????? The way Ohio State got screwed the last two years, and the way we got screwed the year before that, there ain't NO WAY ESPN's controlled CFP lets us in over an ACC Champ with the same record. I guarantee you there will be at least three teams in this year with full ESPN owned SEC/ACC Network shares.

And based on the last 2 years, we better have 1 less loss than the Big 12 Champ. They don't have a competing Conference Network. Oklahoma getting in last year over Ohio State was atrocious.

We have to hope Michigan blows the crap out of Notre Dame today. Because if they beat Michigan, and we both go undefeated, there ain't no way ESPN will let the CFP Committee put us in over an undefeated Notre Dame. You'll have your top 3 as the SEC Champ, undefeated Clemson, and undefeated Notre Dame. If the SEC ends up with an undefeated Champ and a 1 loss Alabama, ESPN will get their linear network dream package, and we'll be playing in what is now a meaningless Rose Bowl.
ND already lost.

They also beat the same UNC team that nearly beat Clemson.

App State is a legit opponent. A much tougher OOC opponent than UCLA.

Michigan is playing ND now. Are they doing that for the next five years? If so I don’t blame them for dropping UCLA.

I wish none of the B1G teams played ND. They are in the ACC now for all sports other than football. Why do them a favor in our markets by playing them. If they want to associate with the likes of the ACC let them.

ND already lost.

Yep. You're right. Which means if they lose today, they are probably toast, and at least we won't have to worry about them anymore.

This actually might turn out being a pretty fun day of football!!! ( I hope) : ^ )

Can you name any schedule you wont complain about? It will either be too tough or too easy.

Whether it is Notre Dame or another Power 5 team, Michigan will replace UCLA on the schedule, but with the series being 2022 away and 2023 at home (the UCLA series was at Ann Arbor in 2022 and in LA 2023) - this will enable them have 7 home games both years. The way that UCLA series was scheduled, Michigan would have only had 6 home games in 2023.
