SIAP: Read this twitter thread.

I see you are still trying to misrepresent my position. I was hoping that in all that time you would have slowly re-read my posts with a focus on comprehension. Why do you engage people in conversation and then not read what they post? It’s kinda the point, and you would definitely learn something. I guess your view is too skewed to consider other views?

Quotes from you in that thread (which I'd say are in line with my comment of "You’re the one trying to defend the PSU fans in the frat incident and rationalize why the OSU fans deserved it. It’s not even worth arguing with you, since your views are so skewed)."...

"The "fraternity incident" you refer to was actually perpetrated by a Pitt fan. Look it up."

"I simply point out that the one and only person involved was a Pitt student. Didn't Pitt have a game that day? You have no idea what those OSU fans did before the camera started rolling, maybe there is a reason everyone cheered. Maybe they assaulted a female? Maybe they tossed a urine filled balloon in to the crowd? Why do you ASSUME that they were just walking through minding their own business, and were assaulted because of the color of their jersey?"

"Bringing the conversation full circle and back on topic, there is only one fact you need to know..."Richard Eisenberger Jr., a 20-year-old Pittsburgh University student pleaded guilty to harassment and disorderly conduct and paid $537 in fines and court fees to close the case, a clerk at District Judge Carmine Pretia's office in State College said.""

"I have never known a PSU student to waste beer for no good reason. Maybe he slapped some guy’s girlfriend, so they started filming? Are you telling me if you saw someone assault a female and people started throwing beers and cheering, you would step in and stand up for the assailant? I guess based on what I’ve seen from you that you condone hitting females."

"One person was charged with a crime for his terrible acts, and it was a Pitt student. No further discussion needed."

Every fan base also thinks they don’t act poorly. I lived in WV for years and heard how great opposing fans were treated. I went to games (and had no dog in the fight so I wore something neutral) and saw many opposing fans treated like crap. Penn State is no more arrogant in this regard than any other fan base.
I will accept your conclusion that we are no more arrogant than other fan bases, but I think it is also fair to say we are not less so. If that is true, it supports my concusion that "we are pretty much the same", and that really was my point.

I shudder to think how much time you wasted in your failed response in this thread and the one two years ago. It sure was fun reminiscing about all the assumptions you made, and all facts and challenges you refused to respond to. So your strategy is to cherry pick statements that you think sorta prove your point, but actually don't, and ignore the rest of the thread? Thank you so much for proving my point that you continually try to misrepresent my position. Please go back to that thread and read it again slowly.

Wait a minute, I thought you said "It’s not even worth arguing with you". See, isn't it nice when someone actually reads what you wrote, even if what you wrote makes you a liar?

“Everyone has some (asshole fans)” is the ultimate strawman.

Of course “everyone does” (everyone who has 10s of thousands - or more - fans)
That means absolutely zippity-do-dah wrt whether or not one fan base may be overwhelmingly populated with assholes - far exceeding the typical distribution for other programs.

Jeebzus...... by definition, ONE group has to be “the worst”.

IMO - from more than a little personal experience - OSU is the undisputed king wrt any fan base I’ve ever been around.

IMO... I'd put Ohio State at #2 in the B10, with Iowa being the undisputed #1. If Pitt wasn't destined to an eternity of futility, they would make their way to the top of the list. But Pitt will just never have the quantity of fans to register on the list.

In fairness, I've heard Michigan fans be extremely condescending and belittling to OSU fans. They don't talk about football, because they can't, but they constantly talk about how poor the school is academically compared to UM and suggest that any OSU grad/student must be an imbecile. Nobody does arrogant quite like they do.
To be fair, most of our condescending avoiding-talking-about-being-owned-in-the-rivalry put downs are about Ohio as a state as opposed to academics. We generally save the condescending academics smack talk for Michigan State students.

Some observations:

Alabama has the best fans. I've gone twice. Those people are awesome. Saw me in my PSU gear with my friends.

Welcomed us and wished us a good game. We'd walk by a tailgate party and you couldn't get 5 feet before someone would ask you to come in, have a drink or some food.

It is easy to focus on the bad behavior of others. But we should take a second to recognize those who behave properly. And to the Alabama fan base, I say: Roll Tide!
Completely agree. Bama fans are awesome. Incredibly gracious and generous, as you noted.

With respect to Big Ten fans, there’s no doubt that, on the whole, Ohio State fans are the worst. I thought my experience as a UM fan in Columbus in ‘98 was perhaps an anomaly because it was a rivalry game, but I’ve heard similar stories from fans of many other schools. And every fan base has its bad apples - I was accosted by a very drunk Penn State student after the game in Happy Valley in ‘99* - but Ohio State fans seem to just be awful by and large.

* To be clear, I had a fantastic time in Happy Valley that weekend and your fans were awesome except that one student (whose friends were trying to get him to stop)

If you keep a couple of water balloons filled with pee in your pockets, I’ve found that it quickly diffuses situations like these. Plus the green coats don’t notice them with their fake pat downs.
A couple of questions come to mind:

1. How do you, uh, fill up the balloons?
2. Do you ever worry about the pat downs causing a balloon to leak or rupture?

:eek::eek::eek:

No f*cks given to either school. Their fan bases are both comprised of classless dolts.

Keep in mind that meatchicken stadium crew mocked us by playing our pump up music and chanting "we aren't Penn State", imitating Trace's baseball swing, made their attendance one more than our Whiteout attendance etc...
General asshats that got their comeuppance. Karma's a bitch.
