Watched MSU beat Aurburn last night and as they were running out the clock in the last ten minutes, they consistently snapped the ball with less than three seconds on the play clock.

This is in comparison to us snapping with 10-17 seconds. I assumed it might have been JoeMo but maybe it’s Rahne or Franklin all along. We have a chance to make a run here at the whole thing and if we want to be “Elite” we need to cleanup all of the little stupid mistakes on the coaching side as well.

Also hate the decision to always take the ball first when winning the coin toss. It’s always nice knowing after halftime you’re going to be getting the ball and a lot of times it’ll work out where you’ll get 2 possessions in a row, end of half and start of 3rd Q...

That drives me nuts too. Defense is tired, 4th quarter, you have the lead, run the clock down.

Can we get a concise list of coaching failures so we can get this staff up to speed? I mean if these blunders are obvious to the experts here, let's clean house! What does the expert panel suggest? New Head Coach? Or do we just axe coordinators and position coaches? I see Jo Mo is back in favor since he won ONE. Do we take him back(if he promises no more static handoffs?
We need a comprehensive list of failures, coaching points and new hires for each coaching position.
I mean its painfully obvious to anyone who ever drank a beer and watched college FB on TV that we need action.

I really hate that our team is permitted to have long hair and need not be clean shaven. I also miss the coat and tie pregame attire. I think this speaks to lack of detail, discipline and decorum and might be a source of 4th Q collapse.

If you made the money our staff makes, would you expect to have these minor details take care of? Especially when the executive in charge is talking about being Elite and taking it to the next level. For the record, I am am overall Franklin supporter but the in game decisions have been questionable at key times.

As sensitive as some of your are, I would hate to work with you as you would likely go running to the restroom in tears with the slightest constructive criticism.

The coaching failures are too numerous to list. So, we just clean out the staff. In fact, Sandy should have done that last Sunday.

I have coaches who could come in immediately and solve all the problems.

Head Coach: Lavar Arrington.

OC: Trace McSorley. He will have to be a player/coach for a few months, but he can handle it.

DC: I don't know, Josh Hull?

Sandy needs to get on this ASAP! One loss on a record breaking night is UNACCEPTABLE! ;) Oh, and :eek::eek::eek:

So you had nothing to say the previous two weeks when the Miss State offense looked like shit in losses?

Let me contribute to the list. Pry must go. My candidate it the DC from Miss State....great job vs Auburn last night.....oops:confused:
Curley must go....he isn't teaching receivers to catch the ball:eek:
I'm willing to give Grover the first half vs MSU but another sack or a stunt (twist) vs the run game and he also needs to go. His replacement should be on the premises to keep the heat on himo_O
Franklin is the 15 highest paid college coach. Are we really getting value for our dollars? Is he the source of 4th Q collapses? Why does he repeatedly ignore our wishes to defer? More to the point, can we ever forgive him for ruining Hack?
He needs to take this job seriously... maybe take some advice from those of us who have spent years studying FB on television. I say if he loses to MSU,Wisky or Iowa...gone:(

There is a certain logic to snapping the ball earlier in the play clock. Defense expects the snap as the clock nears zero, maybe relaxed earlier. Thinking could be that it increases the probability of a successful play, which lead to a first down or score. That's not to say that I wouldn't run down the clock on most snaps, but I'd probably throw in an earlier one here and there, too.

I concur. May I add, that Spider Caldwell should be uprooted from his opulent office in The Beav and kicked to the curb as well. I mean what has he done for us lately? I'll bet Alabama has a better retired long time equipment manager who would upgrade us in that department as well

the people I would hate to work with are the clowns who melt down if the other team scores in the first quarter or we're trailing at the half

Did I say anything in my post about MSU as an overall team? I merely compared a detail of what our prior coach who was in charge of the O either cleaned up as he moved on or wasn’t responsible for in the first place.

Reading is fundamental, eh?

My guess is you we like most on this board, who have no idea what it is to be Elite or do what it takes to achieve greatness. I happen to be in that boat as well but as someone who has played D1 sports and with multiple professional athletes, these details matter.

No one cares what you played. Plenty of D1 athletes who are dumb as a stump. Maybe you are in that group.

Overall, the offense has been outstanding this year. Look at all of the statistical categories. As far as when the ball is snapped, I'm sure Franklin and Rahne and JoeMo would prefer the clock be run all the way down. That's in the control of the quarterback when it is happening. I guess you can put it on Trace's shoulders. Seems like a small mistake when overall he is playing very well.

Please oh exalted mystic ruler.. grant on to me the knowledge of "elite" and the wisdom to differentiate between it and just great. Regale us with your tales of victory, conquest and domination on the gridiron. Surely you were one of the four horseman, the seven blocks of granite, perhaps the top assistant of Knute Rockne? Oh master, lead us as we endeavor to "wake up the echoes" Deliver us from the degradation of 11-3 and 11-2 seasons!

Another one who can’t read, this is entertaining.

Read my post where I stated I put myself in the same boat as not knowing or being able to do what it takes.

I do know the details matter to get to the highest levels.
I may not be able to read, but I can smell a division one shadow boxer.

Our offense is great and Trace is phenomenal.

But the impacts of this decision making are simple to understand. On one set of downs, we are gifting 30-50 additional seconds to the other team.

How many plays can be run in college in 50 seconds? 8-10?

Does this matter with less than 4 minutes left and we are winning?

Of course, it’s huge.
Great idea......let's run our O up tempo and get our D out there more!

Believe what you want, I am almost 40 and my best days are way behind me. Doesn’t mean I am not connected to the sports world and doesn’t mean I don’t know multiple people that have competed and still compete at the highest levels of sport.

It’s not easy, it’s exhausting work and preparation and quite frankly, I never had the will or drive.
So now we are down to the people that we know at the highest level? Who do I need to know to qualify for elite status?

I have no problem taking constructive criticism from people who are qualified to criticize me. Please list your qualifications for being so much more capable than our coaching staff that you can instruct them on how to clean things up.

There are so many here that should be hired as consultants, the list seems endless and out of the reach of any Universities budget...perhaps any NFL budget, too.

But there seem to be a ton of teams that need these consultants (Oklahoma, Auburn, LSU, Va Tech)...there should be programs willing to do what it takes to get these experts.

hell, our national defense budget would be inadequate to hire all of the expertise on this board- or maybe even in this thread

The point, which you are missing, is that armchair quarterbacks (such as most of the posters on this board) are really in no position to question the coaching decisions of well-qualified, highly respected professionals who have actual high level playing and coaching experience. If you can’t understand that, then I would hate to work with YOU. If is fine to be frustrated, and to vent, but if you think that just about anybody who posts on this board is qualified to criticize a college coaching staff then I have some beachfront property in Kansas you might be interested in.

In their spare time they observe coronary revascularizations and septal myectomies, take notes and rate surgeons.
Details matter....why doesn't CJF understand? LOL

Can’t question those in power as they are infallible, huh?

Move to Russia or some other Communist country with your beachfront Kansas rental property bringing you some passive income.

As for your workplace comment, CEOs have never made a mistake, committed fraud, or just shown general ineptitude at that level, right?

Of course, the large preponderance deserve to be there and have earned the opportunity. Doesn’t mean that don’t have to continue to deliver and progress once they get there.

Boss knows best just because they are the boss, move along little mindless drone.

WTH are you rambling about? Quit while you're behind

insults- always a proof of superior intellect

Agree with you, even Saban has shown to be a mess at times with his in game decision making and Les Miles was famous for it.

Just because he has won multiple Natty’s we can’t question him? He seems to be the type of guy who would own it and agree with you.

Where CJF has gotten into arguments with our fans.
so here comes the agenda, finally

so you don't like Franklin? fine

but don't pretend that you know something that others don't- lots of us know people too

I would assert that our staff is among those who are the "large preponderance" that have earned their positions. Legitimate criticism is expected and often beneficial. It won't likely originate on this board however.

You have got to be kidding. Saban has never been a mess. It’s easy to judge the value of a coaching decision after the fact. Hence the term Monday morning quarterbacking.

You can question all you want, but that doesn’t mean you know what the hell you’re talking about. What do you do for a living? What would you think if I questioned you on your decision making if I didn’t know squat about what you do other than to watch it?

I manage global teams for a large bank trading derivatives and futures. If you wanted to argue with me on the intricacies of a credit default swap because you read investopedia.com, agree it would be a bit asinine. If you wanted to question my leadership skills because I put someone who is not numerate in charge of developing our quantitative model for our new structured derivative transaction, that would be more than fair game.

There is little doubt that our O changed dramatically upon his arrival ….. it certainly wasn't going to disappear just because he left.

Through research, JF knew he wanted to run a RPO heavy spread attack. He then went out and found a guy who ran a system like that. That offense is now the "Penn State offense". The OC's we hire will run that offense.

Man, I watched Franklin’s postgame presser and I thought it was fully clear that he owned the results of the Ohio State game and took full responsibility for that result. I must have been watching a different guy in a Penn State polo shirt.

There is a time honored saying in the coaching profession.....it depends on who has the chalk last. Simply understanding this would end a great deal of BS .
